Was Evolution Inevitable?

Many believe evolution was a contingent process. There were not guiding principles, just random genetic mutations that produced all the species we have today, but new research is challenging that view.

Youtube said my video description was too long from all the sources so I will link them on my blog:

And this is exactly why you are the top apologist to me. It is so frustrating to hear theist arguments from William Lane Craig, Ray Comfort, Lee Strobel, Etc only to find strawman of atheism or invalid arguments. But youoh, you are the only person who has ever made me think twice about theism. Whenever I hear any other apologist, I can usually see how their arguments or evidence is either false or invalid. But when it comes to your videos, I have to take a step back and really think about how I'm going to answer your points. You are the only apologist that I know of who actually brings up studies and integrate scientific literature and for that, my hat goes off to you! I have been an Atheist for 7 years and this is the first time I have truly, sincerely considered theism

I was kicked out of a church in 6th grade for saying god used evolution so I'm loving your perspective and research cheers

even though most Christians would believe this theory of evolution to be the biggest threat to Christianity, I would say that this is probably the biggest proof for God’s existence.

This is amazing, this would make the fine tuning argument for God's existence a thousand times stronger. If true (and I admit I'm quite skeptical) this means that life is literally written into the laws of our universe, powerful evidence that they were written by Someone.

Combine this with Thomas Aquinas's fifth way and we have ourselves a winner.

Life was inevitable by virtue of God always knowing from eternity past that he would create life. If he’s omniscient he always knew he would create life and if he’s infallible he knew he could not fail in achieving that goal. God is life and a creator so it’s obvious he will inevitably create life.

A 40 minute video by IP and I didn't even get a notification. Shame on you, Youtube. But now I gotta lay back and enjoy.

I liked the way you told this one. My face was frowning as I tried to see where you were going with this, but as soon as I saw the connection I broke into a smile.

I like that you convey extremely complex ideas in simple language without being simplistic or dumbing them down. You also trust your audience's intelligence, so you're not being condescending and feeling like you have to explain every single concept. Good work!

I honestly don't know what to say
This video left me speechless
It seems quite evident that there is some God at work

This goes very well with Hue Ross's idea that the universe was designed with us in mind

This is one of the most thought provoking videos I've watched in a very long time. I wasn't raised Christian. I chose to follow Christ after years of contemplating reality and what I believed best explained it--both philosophically and from what I call "the human experience". I'd thoroughly dismissed Neo-Darwinian evolution as a flawed attempt to explain our existence without design. And for good reason--the version presented to us in school is not without a litany of problems that doesn't take much digging to see. Like anyone searching for answers, I didn't want to believe in something if it's not logically reasonable to do so. Suffice to say, I came to the conclusion that believing in Jesus Christ is a reasonable belief. To see God you cannot focus on any single aspect of reality. In other words, if you just focus on cosmology or evolution and ignore history, psychology, and human experience you won't have the complete picture to reach an informed conclusion. While I know there are Christians who may scoff at the idea that God could use evolution to bring about His creation, if our search for truth leads us towards that explanation than we need to be open to it. What's more, the underlying narrative of all of this should be clear: the more we learn, the more we see that all reality points towards to design. That's something that can't be denied.

Extremely well done, thank you. For many years, although very interested in science, I found scientific materialism utterly unbelievable due to issues like the Hard Problem of Consciousness, and so I was a steadfast Existentialist. But over the past several months, you, Bernardo Kastrup, Rupert Sheldrake, and Alfred North Whitehead have pushed me into Idealist Panentheism. Thank you for helping me on this journey.

Life wasn't the goal of the universe, it was the goal of the Creator of the universe. And I would say your video can be summarized in as simple of terms as this:
It is built in the programming of reality for there to be life, therefore life was inevitable, which proves that life was intended. Also, we have brains, because there are things that existed before our brains existed which are capable of being thought about. That same logic can be applied to literally any other organism or body part: we have eyes because there were visible things before we had eyes, so our eyes are a natural response to visible realities existing, same with ears, same with feeling and touch senses, etc. This stuff is common sense.

Wow! I remember you were hinting at this video coming out, but I hardly expected it to be 40 minutes long. I will probably have to get started on it whenever I actually have time to focus on it fully. I will probably do some research of my own to verify what you say as usual, but I am confident that your interpretation will be based on solid empirical facts as usual.

I will probably comment more in detail once I finish. Even if one is not a believer such as I, one can never turn down an opportunity to learn and explore a subject from varying angles and lenses. A conclusion drawn from the mental model may be logically correct from its original presumptions and assumptions, but it is always advisable to update the mental model to new information that comes in, lest one wishes to be left in the dust of the past. I find that your videos have been edifying enough for me to reconsider a few of my own personal thoughts and beliefs.
