Breaking new ground, the Women’s and Open competitions unfold side by side, featuring 16 players — eight in each group — engaged in an epic battle to determine the contenders for the reigning world champions.

I like ths stream more than the chess24 stream. They go more into the lines and don't get as distracted.

In today's stream the producers at least were able to show the correct board when Anand and Irina were analyzing, thus fortunately improving on the chaos in the stream of round 6.

I also appreciated it that today they were focusing mainly on the Open section - much better than on some of the previous days when a lot of action in the Open section got lost to the viewers because the commentators lost themselves in deep analysis of some game of the women's section.
I still don't understand why they didn't simply offer two separate streams for the two sections, with different commentators. Four games in each section provide enough drama to cover for one pair of commentators.

What they still haven't been able to fix is the neverending problem of Irina's microphone, which I have already described in comments to previous rounds. For the bigger part of today's stream Irina wore a jacket, where they succeeded to position the microphone in a way that it was neither covered by her hair nor pointed too much in the wrong direction.
But as soon as she put off her jacket, the microphone was again placed badly, and the high frequencies were cut off again, an effect that sound engineers call "off-axis coloration". I would recommend to the producers to simply google that term if they don't know what that is and finally give Irina a fixed microphone in front of her ... or provide a headset microphone that is always pointing in the right direction.
It is really not that difficult ...
