Question:
An ATM dispenses exactly Rs. 5000 per withdrawal using 100, 200 and 500 rupee notes. The ATM requires every customer to give her preference for one of the three denominations of notes. It then dispenses notes such that the number of notes of the customer’s preferred denomnation exceeds the total number of notes
of other denominations dispensed to her.
1. In how many different ways can the ATM serve a customer who gives 500 rupee notes as her
preference?
2. If the ATM could serve only 10 customers with a stock of fifty 500 rupee notes and a sufficient number of notes of other denominations, what is the maximum number of customers among these 10 who could have given 500 rupee notes as their preferences?
3. What is the maximum number of customers that the ATM can serve with a stock of fifty 500 rupee notes and a sufficient number of notes of other denominations, if all the customers are to be served with at most 20 notes per withdrawal?
A. 10
B. 16
C. 12
D. 13
4. What is the number of 500 rupee notes required to serve 50 customers with 500 rupee notes as their preferences and another 50 customers with 100 rupee notes as their preferences, if the total number of notes to be dispensed is the smallest possible?
A. 750

Sir but it is given tha ATM gives 100 200 and 500 rupe notes ....here 'and' is used that means ...atleast one of the denominated notes should be there in every possible combination

I got your solution but wanted to know that is it not contradicting with the condition given in the question that no of 500 rupee notes have to be greater than the no of 100 and 200 notes?

Why cant we have non 500 rupee note more than 8 in 1st question ?

I think the solution for first question is 8 ways..
You forgot 500x8=4000
200x2= 400
100x6= 600

In the last question why cant we take 1 *500 and 45*100, since we need to minimize the 500 rupee notes ???

Perhaps the nth time 2IIM is uploading the same videos regarding the solutions for CAT 2018. Maybe it will be better, if they upload practice questions for Quant, LR/DI or even a RC passage with a few questions.
By re uploading the same questions (*read content) for a views is not expected from 2IIM or from Rajesh.
