The “auto adaptor” was basically a power bank. So you charged it and you could play on the move. Had longer game time than using 8 x AA Batteries. Had a clip on it to fix it to your belt

My cousin I had one when we were kids. He was older and stopped playing games after awhile. But he kept his systems laying around. When I'd come over if play Sonic and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Just ordered a refurbished one on eBay for 30 bucks. Excited.

what unforgettable memories !! I wanted this console for a long time, a friend of mine had the first gameboy with green screen and I envied it so much because my father didn't want to buy it, I must have been 10 years more or less. He decided and to envy her that many times she didn't want me to play with her gameboy, my father bought me the gamegear that had a color screen and at the beginning of the 90s it was a revolution !! when I play with the my anbernic rg280v, magnificent console, I am reminded of those fantastic years where the world is much simpler and more beautiful than today! memories that no one will ever steal from us !! I am 40 years old and I am happy to have lived my childhood in those wonderful years!

I think this was so ahead of its time. Remember my older cousin having this and loved that it was in color unlike gameboy and seemed better to play to. Even had a portable TV attachment.

I bought this for £109 when it came out. I then bought the tv tuner for £50, it was amazing.

Had one of these, the converter was great, made it a portable master system.

I have 3 now, about to be one repaired + fully modded, and the other two just repaired back to stock condition. Look forwards to getting all that done.

I got my first handheld in 1990. My cousin had gotten a Game Boy in 1989 for Christmas and I ended up playing it more than he did so of course, in 1990, I wanted one for myself. However, a month before Christmas, my parents and I had gone to the mall and I went to KB Toys to look at Game Boy games and NES games to see what games I wanted for Christmas. On the shelf was the Game Boy with a bunch of games, and next to that, I saw the Atari Lynx. I was blown away by it. The color screen, the size of it and I wanted it. I told my parents thats what I wanted and my parents asked if I was sure because it did cost more and if I got that, it would be all I got due to it costing 2x more than a Game Boy. My dad was more willing to get the Lynx due to him being more familiar with the Atari brand than he was with Nintendo (Granted, I did have an NES) but he just wanted me to be sure about it because I had been playing my cousins Game Boy for almost a year and the Lynx was something I had just discovered. But I knew that's what I wanted. So, on Christmas Day, I got my Atari Lynx with California Games. My parents forgot to tell my grandmother that I changed my mind on the Game Boy and she ended up buying me 2 Game Boy games. I returned those and got Chips Challenge and Blue Lightening. When school started back after Christmas break, I saw a bunch of kids with Game Boys. I remember kind of wanting one still so I could play games with my friends and classmates but at the same time, it was so fun being the "envy" among my friends with the Atari Lynx. People gathered around to watch me play. I think I had it for about 5 months before it got stolen

Item you were wondering about was the portable rechargeable battery pack .. it’s a brick & even has a clip for your belt .. you plugged your mains adaptor to charge it ..

Seeing that Sonic run that smoothly in 1992 in color on a handheld system (heck, that word didn't even exist back then) must've been mind-blowing

I had all the gameboys growing up but always wanted a game gear so bad. Color and backlit screen!? Seemed so much better.
