Crosby, Stills & Nash - Just A Song Before I Go

Just a song before I go
To whom it may concern
Traveling twice the speed of sound
It's easy to get burned

When the shows were over
We had to get back home
And when we opened up the door
I had to be alone

She helped me with my suitcase
She stands before my eyes
Driving me to the airport
And to the friendly skies

Going through security
I held her for so long
She finally looked at me in love
And she was gone

Just a song before I go
A lesson to be learned
Traveling twice the speed of sound
It's easy to get burned

The kind of song you wish was longer. The only choice is to play it on repeat

As a kid hitchhiking from S. Carolina to my home in San Diego I got stuck in Fort Stocton, Texas for hours. It was getting very cold and when I about gave up an old truck with a camper shell stopped to pick me up. The hippiy driving told me get in the back and as I opened the hatch I saw a guy about my age and a girl I thought was his girlfriend. The down filled sleeping bags made it warm and as I drifted off I heard the kid singing this song. Over the next day we traveled westward, stopping by a store now and then to get something to eat . His name was Max and while we sat on the tailgate eating sandwhiches he sang this again. I loved it but had never heard it before. He taught me every word to every verse and as they dropped me off we waved goodbye and I never heard from them again. Go forward many years, I did a stint in the Navy, got out and got married and we had a little beautiful boy. When he become old enough to sleep in his own bed he asked me to sing him a song . Yeah... the only song I knew all the words. I continued to sing this every night.... he loved it.... and I sang it to him every night for 3 years. Now life goes on people... now I miss him terribly... he lives in Virginia... across the country. He is now 38 years old... and here I sit at 65.. listening to this song to remember how fast it all goes

One of the Greatest songs of our yesteryear. The 70's maybe isn't the greatest of economic times, but when it comes to music, we PEAKED and PEAKED.

Songs like this and Ventura Highway reminds us how music once was enjoyable and now with the exception of very few its not like it was.

David Crosby has climbed aboard his wooden ship, is sailing to the Southern Cross and has sung us one last song before he goes. Fair winds and following seas… we’ll see you on the other side..

An amazing song, and even more amazing when you hear how it came about:The song was written by Graham Nash about leaving loved ones behind before going on a concert tour. It was written in Hawaii in about 20 minutes at the piano while Nash and Leslie Morris were staying with a friend, waiting for the rain to stop before leaving the house. The opening line came from the question: "You've got half an hour, why don't you just write a song before you go? In a February 25, 2016 interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Nash stated that the homeowner bet him $500 that he couldn't write a song before he left. Nash said he still has that $500.

To think he wrote this song on a $500.00 bet and it became CSN's highest charting song ever at #7. Here's another fiver Nash, do it again.

I love this song. It's the epitome of cool and smooth, with an undertone of sadness and loss. Can't stop listening to it!

This song is a subtle masterpiece. The beautiful memories of the 70's.

A song we all agree should be longer, because of how fantastic it is, but it’s short and sweet length only plays into the overall theme of the lyrics.

Sometimes the moments in life you wish would last forever are over in the blink of an eye, much like this song.

This song is beautiful, yet so short it leaves you yearning for more. Maybe they intended it to be that way.
