We live in a society whereby people think Singapore is in China. That could explain the origins of the Singapore Noodles.

My 2 cents - a dish invented by Hong Kong chefs; curry is akin to Singapore so the name is derived.

Hell no, living in Australia I have to tell my partner numerals time that Singapore noodles has nothing to do with Singapore.
I miss Singapore food everyday and Papa Rich is all I’ve got here. Better than nothing :)

Singaporean noodles originated in HK - when a Canto chef wanted to use ingredients (including curry powder) imported by the British from Singapore. So the "Singapore" in the name refers to the origin of the ingredients, not the recipe. It's just like how the drink called Bandung refers to Bahasa Melayu for pair (ie, rose syrup + water) rather than Bandung in Indonesia. It's not even that controversial, just a matter of understanding historical context. -.-

I am in Melbourne right now, and I guran-damn-tee you that Singapore noodle here baffles all Singaporeans. You can find it at Minh Xuong, China Bar, Rose Garden, Thai Culinary, Oriental Spoon, KL Bunga Raya, etc.
Have I tried it? Nope, because it looks exactly as how Dennis said it

In Malaysia(KL at least) there is a noodle dish called "Singapore meehoon" and it has ketchup in it instead of soy sauce. Quite tangy and appetising when it's fried with enough "wok hei" ..
