The Perfect ADV Bike Hasn't Been Built Yet.

Will the Husqvarna Norden 901 be the ADV bike that puts "adventure" back into the ADV class? Come ride with me as we chat about the huge gap in the market that manufacturers seem to have a massive blind-spot about. As ADV bikes get more displacement, heavier, bloated with more breakable trick electronics, yet less capable off-road, is there a manufacturer out there that will start to design the "adventure" back into ADV bikes?

Whether riding enduro or street, The Blue Marble Rider will regularly bring you more than just the cliched “What’s up?” By taking you on a journey, reviewing a product, bike, or even a movie, I’ll try to combine my wit with my enjoyment of photography to bring you a high quality product that I hope conveys the essence of riding with some nuggets of humour, new experiences and, at times, maybe, a hard-learned pearl of wisdom. I ask nothing of you, but the chance to share experiences. Thanks for reading. Please subscribe, share, like and chuckle where appropriate.

I have an '18 701, and now the T7. I like the teased Norden 501 twin but couldn't wait hence the T7. But really the manufacturers are going to give us exactly what we want. I'd be they would think anything too light would not be as durable.

600-750cc but with an accessible seat height of 810-830mm 😍. Lets add tubeless rims & spoked wheels, aluminum skid plate, adjustable suspensions, inverted front fork, maximum wet weight of 200kg, 17-19 inches wheels, traction control & cornering ABS...😎.

The issue is there’s no perfect bike, at a minimum you’d need two bikes, one that’s a happy medium for the slab to get to dirt. And one dedicated for just dirt. We are looking for a good compromise for 2up camping. But we don’t want the weight of the GS/SA models. I think the 901 would be a perfect fit for us. Only time will tell.

I think you nailed it. And I too agree. My thoughts. I’d like to see Suzuki get serious with the Dl650. Shed weight. Better suspension. If advance electronics add weight then leave it out. What it currently has is more than we need. Thanks for the interesting videos. Thumbs up.

I went with the 650 vstrom over a used klr because of the ability to go on the interstate at 70 to 80mp without pushing the engine. Over that I don't care too much but I have to have ability to travel ALL roads, including the interstate. Dream ADV bike? Something innovative in the luggage department.

I own versys 650 and himalayan the nearly ok adv.. would be to give my himalayan another gear for flat motorways etc ..power good enough...a tad heavy for off road but low height makes it mangable off road...ATB cheers from dave in UK

The 901 will be a big hit as well as the 701LR.

I had heard that KTM were developing a 490 Adventure, which could be interesting... although I'd trust its reliability more if it was not based on the 390. CCM did a "proper" adventure 450, but it had terrible fuelling from what I remember and although I think you can still get old stock new ones, they need money spending on them to get them pukka.
It is a shame that the likes of the Yamaha WR450 is now no longer street legal, as they would make for a good conversion. Trouble is, we want the Goldilocks of motorbikes, and you may be able to achieve several of the important things on a perfect bike wish list, but you will always have to compromise on other bits.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan with a little more top end power would be ideal.

Hasn't been built yet?? Au contraire mon frere!! Currently in my stable i have a 950 Adventure, 939 Hyperstrada, 450 EXC, F650GS, XT225 and a DR650. Which one gets the most mileage? The DR. It's been built for years. Maybe you just need a paradigm shift to appreciate. It's hauled my fat flabby white ass through Ecuador from sea level to 15, 000 feet. A group of us on DR's travelled 1800km's across the back roads of NFLD. And how much was the cost of said beast. $2300 Canadian. Bought after the previous owner farkled it nicely. Hasn't been built yet...pffft. Wipe that BC fog from yer eyes and cast a glance a little further my friend. The truth is out there!! Oh...very much like your channel btw.😁
