Change on X, formerly Twitter, drives some users away

Some users of X, Elon Musk's social media platform formerly known as Twitter, say they're leaving the app because of new terms of service. Among other things, the terms say that say by using X, users agree to let their posts be used to train AI. NBC News' Savannah Sellers reports.

Twitter’s new TOS also allows them to use images posted on the platform for AI training so a large majority of artists are deleting their accounts on the platform in response and moving to alternatives like Bluesky.

It’s wayyyy wayyy to politicized than is a formal place to go to outside of politics. It’s been poorly managed with less innovation to the app.

The magic of Bluesky is that the block button works. Bots and trolls can't gain traction. Debates can be had in a productive manner.

The biggest issue with bots/trolls to me is that first and foremost, they scramble communication lines. The odds of a community reaching consensus under those conditions are low. That's cause when folks read replies, they are most likely to reply to the most aggravating one.

Folks like Musk know that and let it happen to enhance political polarization. GOP has been using these "us against them" tactics for decades now. They still are the party of the rich, and 1% of the vote is not enough to win an election. But over 50% of the white vote just might. Hence racist/xenophobic/etc rhetoric being what they choose to promote via those bots.

Since Elon bought it... he "deleted" my account but he let the Taliban account stay active. 🤨So I can log in and see my old account but no one else can see it so it's in purgatory. I haven't decided if I want to create a new account bc he's been doing weird thing and this just made my decision to not be on there/ I'd rather hop on blue sky —and BTW, it will always be call twister, not X.
