Kate lied about Calpol. In May 2007 the 2 active ingredients were paracetamol (Tylenol in US) AND diphenhydramine (Benadryl in US). Diphenhydramine is a “sedating antihistamine” & it certainly would cause drowsiness even in lower doses. The pharmaceutical company removed diphenhydramine in September 2007, 4 months after the disappearance of Madeleine. I find the timing to be suspicious. In subsequent discussions of sedating the children many state “Paracetamol does not cause drowsiness” as if the Calpol had been purchased in late 2007.
