Love that Ice Cube pointed out that folks who live in the hood also have fun. Trauma and the comedy outlet is very in sync. You have to cope because you can't afford to leave. Laughter makes the unbearable, a little more tolerable. Movies like Colors etc. glorify the bad actors that make neighborhoods into "hoods."

I love Boyz N The Hood, Cube was perfect for Doughboy. Ice Cube inspires me and show me that anything is possible. Cube had just left NWA at that point and AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted was a success and for an unknown director John Singleton came up to him and offer Cube the role even though he doesn’t have any acting experience. The movie is a certified classic, and it still resonates to this day, 30 years later.
