Can you have MD and SMD enabled at the same time ? Or should I disable MD if I want to use SMD and get phone notifications?

SMD is way too buggy. It mostly depends how you position your camera. After camera is positioned, it is too late to change it's position.

I'd suggest trying to sprint past the camera quickly and seeing how much ghosting trail it leaves behind.
