Mooer GE200 -- Van Halen Brown Sound

This patch created on the new Mooer GE200 modeling and multi-effects unit. All sounds come directly from the GE200, into my Focusrite interface, and recorded into GarageBand.

There has been a lot of "chugga-chugga" type demos of this unit, and I wanted to demo something more rock-oriented and Marshall-derived. I figured why not try to do a brown sound?

I purposefully limited myself to using the built-in cabinets that came with the unit, instead of any third-party IR's -- just to see if the unit could do a passable VH tone all on it's own. And what I hear on this clip is pretty close. It's not 100% of the way there, but the sound is browny and fun to play. Not bad at all for a $300 unit.

It sounds really good in the phase reverb dept but hard to tell cuz i think guitar trCk from album is playing along side it. Id suggest maybe kicking up the gain a bit ? In my opinion its very close and an authentic brown sound . Good job. Some van halen brown sound vids are so far off its unreal. Only certain ppl pick up on the nuances of the brown sound and clearly u get it

Sounds great! You've got to share your settings! I've been working on a VH Brown sound but haven't got the punch yours had. Are you hitting the front of the amp with the compressor or an OD?I have had the Moore 200 for two weeks now and have discovered that certain amps come to life when you mess with the input db settings. The sounds are amazing and so close to their counterpart. Best 300 bucks I ever spent!
