I think the meaning behind the line “But don’t be here to stay” is the ghosts telling Kel that she can get help from them for now, but she can’t stay with them forever. Eventually, she’s gonna have to go on with life using the help that the ghosts provided to her to successfully live.

I just realised that all of their “Heart pins” together make a Clover

I kinda just realized the symbolism of their animal features. A songbird for George, a creature both representative of music and never-ending optimism, a bunny for Brenda to represent both her involvement in show business and her ability to bounce back, and a wolf for Dave both as a representation of the character he created and his perseverance against all odds and his loyalty to his dream. Damn. Small details really go deep.

Realizing after the last song that the line "But don't be here to stay" is referring to the fact that Kel is in limbo after an attempted suicide, and the ghosts are trying to give her the courage to wake back up and keep living.

I know this is a cartoon music video on YouTube, but two years ago this song helped me deal with the loss of my own Grandfather. The main area it helped with was accepting grieving as a part of the process. I know this is just a song, but thank you. It helped during those first hard times
