Christmas After Midnight is Grammy-Award winning and platinum-selling artist Fantasia’s first-ever holiday album. The 12-track album was produced by Ron Fair and includes some of Fantasia's favorite holiday songs including "This Christmas," "Silent Night," "Santa Claus Go Straight to the Ghetto," "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and "Baby, It's Cold Outside". Recorded live in Los Angeles' iconic Capitol Studios and Nashville's famed Blackbird Studios, Christmas After Midnight is an inspiring and merry blend of rock, soul, jazz, funk and blues that will send holiday spirits soaring.

"This album pays homage to my grandmother and is a gift from me to all of those who remember their grandparents or parents putting up Christmas trees and being a blessing into people's lives," says Fantasia. "I'd also like to pay homage to the great singers like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles who stood strong in what they believed in - the music. So I’m walking around Nebraska Furniture Mart on Christmas Eve, and I can hear the start of this song coming faintly over the PA. I’m in a part of the store obviously away from a speaker, and I can’t really hear it that well. But being it’s one of my most favorite songs, the original I believe was recorded by Donny Hathaway, it really doesn’t matter who sings it, I just love this song, so I immediately start singing and bopping to it.

Anyway, I’m pushing my cart around, and I’m now in the bedding and find myself right under a speaker when I realize it’s Fantasia singing. I’m just delighted. Y’all just down know how much I love this young lady. Her voice is like no one’s. I’ve heard this song sung by so many other people. But she is the only one, besides Donny Hathaway, who just knocks this song out of the park. Her vocals, her style, her soul and pure grit is unbelievable. And the musical arrangement on this version is just stellar.

I didn’t start watching American Idol until season three. When she won, nothing played in my car for two years straight except Fantasia.

This song. Just wow! I think they should just retire this song now. This should be the LAST version ever sung and recorded of this song. This songstress has just dropped the mic!
