The Mystery of the Kailasa Temple of India | Ancient Architects

The enigmatic Kailasa Temple at the Ellora Caves in Maharashtra, India has fascinated researchers for centuries. As the world’s largest monolithic structure, it is without doubt one of the most breathtaking sites on the planet.

It is often overlooked, or at least overshadowed by sites such as the Giza pyramids of Egypt, Stonehenge of England, the Mexican Pyramid of the Sun, Gobekli Tepe in Turkey and so on, but this is certainly one of humanity’s greatest architectural achievements.

India is simply incredible!!!! The more you look, the more awesome things you can find.... She is a world in Herself.... She is the cradle of civilization.... After hundreds of years of invasions and colonization, much has changed in the way She looks.... Her true beauty is Mother India welcomes all....

Went to this temple last month. I can not begin to describe how INSANELY GORGEOUS & breathtaking it is. It is actually quite a lot bigger than you might perceive from this. When you're there & you just start to process the hundreds of thousands of intricate carvings on the this mountain cum temple facade you are simply left mesmerized. #EDIT- It is a crying shame that this epic temple is NOT in the list of World's wonders. Having been to both places...the Taj Mahal has got nothing on this.

And i thought the Pyramids in Egypt were amazing. This takes the crown man. Imagine the Math, calculations needed to construct all this to precision. ?

Kailasa Temple is much more complex than any other architecture built by humanity.

A lot of the craftsmanship on the many various temples in India are mind-blowing. Not only that, but the statues for example are almost like they were produced on a factory-like scale of precision and style. Egypt, along with Rome and Greece usually overshadows India; but India deserves massive recognition.

I live here in India, I visited this place 3 years back, believe me when I say this, I am an engineering student, and to this date I cannot think how could they have clean carved the stones so perfectly without lasers. Honestly!!

Since I have laid eyes on the absolutely amazing Mt Kailash I have been entranced like nothing before. I tell my friends n family about it and show them pics but they don't care unfortunately. I'm left dumbfounded. I actually became aware of the Ellora Caves before finding love and tranquility with Mt Kailash and which then brought me into Lord Shivas arms. I have watched multiple videos of the Ellora Caves and left with awe and amazement. I want to visit there more than anywhere in the world. Great video

I spent 5 days at Ellora and visited the temple complex for 3 full days. The 3D thinking needed to imagine this structure is mind-blowing.
The most stunning man-made creation I have ever observed.

I was there in 1995. It is really impressive to be sure. Happy to hear there is a possible question as to its age and that it is getting noticed. The whole Ellora Caves site is huge, and amazing.

'...according to what we were told that India had...' that is the phrase i keep in mind. India has magnificent structures and culture that should be given more credit.

India suffered destruction of thousands of temples under Mughal rule. This temple survived, thanks to Basalt.

India has many man made cave and temple complexes that boggle the mind and hopefully you'll do more videos on some of them. You always have interesting insight and theories about these kinds of ancient sites and I look forward to your next video.

The carvings are mostly portraying incidents from the two Hindu epics, The Ramayana and The Mahabharata. These are still popular within Indian culture and almost every Hindu knows the basic storyline of both these epics. What we don't know is that when these actually originated. I'm using the word 'originated' because the Hindu tradition of knowledge transfer was largely verbal from generation to generation for several 1000s of years and were finally written down only 2000 years back or so. Prior to this, the stories were memorised and told to younger generations in the form of 'Shlokas'. These Shlokas were created using a checksum method so that the integrity of the information didn't degrade over time. Although we don't know when these stories were created, they haven't been lost are still very much part of the Indian culture.

Love. Love clearly built this temple. With only being able to imagine how this might of looked at the day it was completed, I am sure I would cry at first sight from the beauty and the unbelievable amount of love that was put into this masterpiece.
