Valley woman with 'mystery illness' dies after CJD diagnosis

Family members say Shawn-Lee Midkiff, the Valley woman with a mystery illness, has passed away.

My wonderful Mother passed from CJD and it was very sudden like this and took awhile to get a diagnosis. It was heart breaking and I hope nobody has to go through a loved one having this disease.

Prion disease from infected meat?. Did the CDC do testing? If not, why not? Meat sold should be tested but is not.

My soon to be aunt is being put into Haspus (not sure how to spell it.) Over this. I really love this lady and it breaks my heart. She is one of the few people in this world who has a heart of gold.

why do they keep saying 1 in a million? its happening to quite a few people and they are dying from it

It was said to be the 1 in a million brain disease. My friend passed from It 6 years ago. I've recently heard about sporadic clusters showing up.

I believe I have fatal insomnia which is a prion disease like cjd im absolutely devastated and so scared. My mom and my girlfriend are going to be totally heartbroken

If my MRI and EEG were fine can I have this disease? I am 33 yo, male and I have some unusual symthoms that haven't been diagnosed yet. Intense sleepiness and mental exaustion but I can't sleep and I previously slept for 7-8 hours, involuntary hand muscle spasms on the left, brain fog, high pulse 130 bpms ( cardiologist says I'm fine) and nausea sometimes, tingling near my spinal cord and red rashes that don't ich that appear the next day after an episode wich doctors say it's hives. It happends all in a "crisis" that I'm having until I sleep for 12 hours or more continously once or several days in a row in a month. I feel like I'm dying of something but doctors say it's psychological and probably depression and anxiety. This has gone on for almost 3 years now
