From 1985 to 1955 to 1885, here's Doc Brown's entire Back to the Future timeline explained.

Doc and Marty's time-traveling adventures in Back to the Future all started with a clock. On November 5, 1955, Doc Brown decided to hang a clock over the toilet in his bathroom. While balancing on his toilet, Doc fell and hit his head, knocking himself unconscious. When he came to, he'd had a vision.

Over the following 30 years, Doc was successful in creating a working flux capacitor, which he installed in a DeLorean. Meanwhile, on November 12, a week after Doc fell off his toilet, the clock tower at the Hill Valley courthouse was struck by lightning.

Three decades after inventing the flux capacitor, Doc finishes his time machine, but there's just one small problem. In order to run, his machine requires 1.21 gigawatts of power, which is significantly more than a car battery can produce. Doc's solution? Plutonium.

Marty's right, but Doc figures out a way to acquire the radioactive substance by making a deal with a group of Libyan terrorists to build them a bomb. He steals their plutonium, and gives them a bomb casing filled with used pinball machine parts.

Obviously, this doesn't end well. On October 26, 1985, Doc asks Marty to come help him document the first test of his time machine, but no sooner has he conducted a successful test with his dog, Einstein, than the terrorists show up. Marty hides, but the terrorists open fire and kill Doc as a traumatized Marty looks on. Marty then tries to escape in the DeLorean, still programmed by Doc for the day he first invented time travel, bringing him back to November 5, 1955. Keep watching the video to see Doc Brown's Back to the Future timeline explained.

My favorite bit of BTTF lore is the fact that for a few hours on November 12, 1955, the time machine was in 4 places in the area of Hill Valley at the same time! The version from Part 1 was in 1955 Doc's garage. The first version from Part 2 was wherever 2015 Biff hid it when he brought the almanac back to give it to his younger self. The second version from Part 2 was hidden behind the Lyon Estates sign after Doc and Marty arrived back in 1955 to undo what 2015 Biff had done. The version from Part 3 was in a derelict state, sitting in the abandoned mine shaft where Doc had hidden it in 1885.

I like the fact that Doc made a guest appearance in A Million Ways to Die in the West. So cool and quite funny to watch.

Here is my question? How did Biff know how to operate the "time machine" if he knew nothing about that machine?

Helps to recap the series from the viewpoints of different characters who don't experience time entirely in its normal sequence (Doc, Marty, Biff, even Jennifer and Einstein). There's even an explanation out there that for at least a few hours in 1955, there were two Docs, two Martys, two Biffs, and *four* Deloreans in or around Hill Valley (one in Doc's garage being repaired for the return trip in BTTF1, one that later Doc is flying around somewhere in BTTF2, one that old Biff has stashed somewhere while he gives his younger self the almanac, and one buried in the old mine).

Something people miss is also that in the beginning of Back to the Future Doc says he is allergic to all synthetics, and at the end of Back to the Future is wearing ALL synthetics

Doc originally picked up Clara at the train station, since he volunteered to meet her at the town meeting. No one volunteered in the original time line.

Still can't believe Marty's parents don't recognize him as calvin klein in 1985

Who needed this explained? That being said I’m so happy to have more back to the future content on this channel

"changing the past doesn't change the future" - Hulk
"so back to the future is a full of bullshit"- Antman

but seriously, this back to the future theory is the grand daddy of all time-travel theories in movies and fiction.

They captured lighting in a flux capacitor with this Trilogy. My first comic con in Newark Nj they had movie cars and one was the Dilorian. So sweet

So did Lorraine McFly change identity and became Beverly Switzler as a struggling punk rocker and cheated on Marty for Howard The Duck?

Doc really died, right? Marty created a NEW timeline where Doc lives, but the “original” Doc actually died.

Doc asked Western Union to hold the letter, not the postal service.

Boy oh boy do we have a story for those in 1985... I'd love to go back in time to then.
