You keep bringing up this 15 seconds thing. That is so soul crushing to hear that it all comes down to that. I'll take that to heart when re-formatting mine but ouch. That really is tough.

Also, the resume that was so great, we couldn't see the left hand side of how it was formatted.

What do you recommend for people who have a spent years at the same company but may have had different roles or promotions. Is it better to lump it all into one section so the date can be a larger range, or to have it be treated as different jobs, or have it be some sort of different style of sub heading that conveys when there was a major promotion?

DevOps is the common term used when someone is hiring and it is the used term in the market right now, I don't like it either because devops can be whatever a company need to deploy an application or product 😅 system administrator or sysadmin was a better term (I call it WhateverOps since you just do whatever it's required). Also SRE isn't the same as DevOps, usually SRE have very well defined things they should do.

I think the second resume is a strong one. There were very specific examples and use cases using the development situations and shows implementation.

I also believe that you could put the requisition or goals of the review in the beginning of the video. That would clear it up.

I believe the momentum has shifted. Companies are increasingly hiring more junior and entry-level positions since they are paid less, and with AI, they can deliver at a similar speed to seniors (perhaps not the same quality, but honestly, these days it's all about cost-cutting).

This is exactly why we are automating resume analysis. When hiring you NEED to know what quality means to YOU, automate that and run a prompt on ALL resumes, see how many of those have what you are looking for and look the ones that HAVE what you need. Not all devs are fit for all roles, and that should be clear for everyone. But this 15 seconds make no sense for me.

The moment that I have pin down a short list of who have what I need, I will for sure take a deep dive look on everything about that person, even the github repo on what that person likes to code for fun.

I don't by this bull shit X seconds rule. Cheers from Brazil.
