I think that comparison was a bit one sided

My 2011 Lefty Speed PBR has been nothing less than perfect. Smooth, super stiff, nice and beefy. Cannondale rocks! And at a red light you can get into some interesting conversations.

I ride a Lefty on my Cannondale and it is amazing. So good that I don't want to go back to the old style of fork.

What they don't show is the constant bearing resets that the Lefty needs, what happens when the bearings let go, how hard they are to get fixed at the LBS, etc, etc Mine's been the most unreliable fork I have ever owned.

Ive been riding my lefty for 10 years n just rebuilt it last year just to upgrade from old components. I dh n jump with it all day. Love it. I love when people see it the doubt me then I leave them in my dust on any trail. All depends on the rider.

Almost all the flex involved is at the head tube... and the head tubes are mounted at different distances from the clamp.... so yeah, if you leave 3.5" of head tube hanging out then it'll flex.

No engineering degree required.

Love my cannondale Jekyll 1000 caad 4 with the lefty. Such a smooth ride and it’s so weird going back to a normal fork after riding it for so long. Prefer lefties for some reason, just so much better in every way

If the lefty fork is already strong, why not do it on the other side to make it even stronger??

These are the kind of forces you get when you turn AND hit a bump. It's a combination of gyroscopic and lateral forces. You don't need to analyse it to that level though to feel the difference. You just have to go out and ride a lefty. Then let us know how it feels to you.

the normal fork didnt even work properly from the start .. i understand that the lefty is awsome but ... this is not the video

@mtbsieppo I see your point. Still I see that double crown at this given vid is the thing that changes the flex the most, while as you said that if compared to other xc, Lefty is the only one with double crown I've seen, you know... Anyways, sorry for my "passionate" reply before. I'm a fan on Finland btw, I have few friends there, and last year I rode DH at Ruka mountain. :P Nice 180s in your video. I tried DJs years ago and they are freaking unforgiving on mistakes, unlike freeride bikes!!!

This presentation doesnt tell everything. It only explained the behavior of the wheel against the stanchion. What is really the technology inside that one-legged stanchion? The traditional 2-legged fork functions differently but work simultaneously where it absorbs and release the force of impact at the same time. Where they able to put these two into one?

I have no problem with the Lefty, and am sure it is equally as capable as any other fork, but this video is ridiculous. that other fork is barely returning. Compare it to a quality Rock Shox or Fox fork and its on par

Tbh, the lefties seem nice and all, but they just look really odd.

I own 2 cannondales. 1 with a Lefty and the other one with a fatty. The fatty flexes noticeably more than the lefty. I just luve the Lefty :) I guess you got to ride it a few times, to believe it.

The demonstration only applies when the bike is not in motion (moving). same principle applies when turning the steering on a car when in stationary, of course it is really hard to turn the steering wheel because it's not moving but if the car is moving it's really easy to turn the steering wheel.

If they went back to the headset-shock design of older suspension forks there would be no shock lockup.

My Lefty is an amazing shock, I look forward to abusing it all the time!

but in what scenario will u have pressure horizantal to the hub on the wheel? i mean.. the places he put pressure sometimes doesnt happen in real life, and only demonstrates a point that will never take effect.. but seems logical when looked upon this way

@artrbinfo Haha, the end of your post was actually pretty damn funny, in a good way! However, when talking about the weight of Boxxers we both were kinda right, as there are 3 versions of them heaviest one being 6.63 lbs. My point was though that it would make no sence to compare a lefty to a Boxxer as they are designed for completely different kinds of riding. Comparing a Lefty to another xc fork, on the other hand, is fair.
