This Day in American History with Morgan - Mar 30, 1870: -15th Amendment to the Constitution adopted

"On this day, March 30, 1870, the 15th Amendment to the United States Constitution was adopted. The 15th Amendment prohibits the federal and state governments from denying a citizen the right to vote based on their race, color, or previous condition of servitude. This amendment was a significant step towards expanding voting rights in the United States, particularly for African American men who had been disenfranchised by discriminatory practices such as poll taxes and literacy tests. While the 15th Amendment represented progress towards equality, it would be many years before voting rights were fully realized for all Americans."
