They actually did explain the reason everyone talked to the camera mockumentary style in the finale of the show. Apparently the whole family was filming a reality show the whole time, only reason nobody knew was because the show they filmed only aired in Luxembourg

Honestly, the amount of people who didn’t know Liv and Maddie were both Dove Cameron for the longest time (myself included) just shows how great she performed in the show

The fact that Dove created nuances for Liv & Maddie that would help differentiate them like what their dominant hand is or Liv's higher pitch voice is just shows how much dedication she had to playing them both.

The show does explain in the last episode why they are filming office style: there’s a company in another country that is filming a reality TV show about the family.

As someone who lives in Wisconsin willingly, the most realistic thing about Liv and Maddie, is the fact that you CAN'T welcome somebody home without dip.

You gotta admit they did a great job with the camera trickery, making you think that Liv and Maddie wasn't played by the same actress

Hear me out, they needed Maddie to have glasses so they could tell Liv and Maddie apart

From "better in stereo" to "I could be a better boyfriend than him" our girl had a huge glowup

I actually really liked this show as a kid. Though it can be a cheesy kids show at times, it actually has some surprisingly good humor and nice moments.

I gotta give major props to dove for being able to act as two characters for 4 seasons of television. I remember being so shocked when they had a between shows segment with her and she talked about playing both roles herself it blew my pre teen mind. also props to the camera and editing crew on the show for managing to make all the shots with both of them on screen or directly interacting pretty seamless. usually things like that are pretty obvious on kids shows but the team, dove, and her body double did a great job cuz I know a lot of other people were convinced this was a zack and cody dylan and cole type of thing too

“It’s only weird if you make it weird” is a line I use on a daily basis.

Say what you want, but ‘sisters by chance, friends by choice’ always melted my heart.

my best friend and i were obsessed with this show when we were younger. we always said that she was liv and i was maddie. we would eat her mothers pasta and watch it till however late two 8 year olds could stay awake. she passed away in 2017. this show will forever have my heart. it may be “cringy” and “weird” but it means the world.

This is how I will always see Ryan Mccartan, as Diggy. My friend only knows him as JD (Heathers). Two very different characters! Haha

Fun Fact : Something that I always think about is how in the first episode, Liv says "you stole my face" then Maddie says "I had it first" which makes us automatically think that Maddie is the older twin. But later on in the show when we find out that Liv and Maddie are born on different days, (we find out that Liv was actually born a day early. Liv was born at about 11:56pm on the 5th and Maddie was born at 12:04am on the 6th) So maybe this was just a writing mistake or something. I don't know

One thing I found really annoying about shows like this is that they always sent the message that the person the main girl has a crush on when the show starts is who she is “destined” to end up with even when she dated someone totally better that doesn’t treat them like garbage she still ends up with the garbage guy she started with.

When I was younger i loved this show. I remember singing the Better in Stereo in school for a talent show, and a lot of other students knew the song.😅

I never really realized it but having Maddie as a role model character was really great for me growing up. At the moment I can't think of many tomboyish characters that weren't overly aggressive to the point where the show discouraged from being like them. Maddie was great for me because 1. she loved basketball (my favorite sport as a kid), 2. when it came to having relationships, Maddie was the one who had a consistent boyfriend and she had the better friends, so she seemed more real and relatable, 3. they weren't afraid to have Maddie be sensitive. She went through so many realistic struggles like whenever something was impacted by Liv being back or when she went through stuff with Diggie. They also let her explore her more "girly" side when Liv forced her to be a 3D mirror (I cannot believe I'm writing this). Anyway, all this to say, Maddie was a nice reminder that I can feel pretty while being a jock. Alex, if you're reading this, I recommend you watch season 2 episode 18 and the last episode of season 3. They both make me cry almost every time. I know it's just a stupid disney channel show, but somehow they get the emotions just right when it matters. If you made it this far, thanks for reading and thanks Alex for helping me realize I had a great role model growing up. :)
