I used to work with a technology called Eschelon back in the late 90s. Eschelon controls nodes Over The 120v Power Lines. With Eschelon, you can have a node do anything such as turn power on and off in its simplest function to running complex commands of an extremely subtle nature. Again, these commands are being transmitted and executed through the 120v power line! I can only imagine how far the Eschelon technology has advanced since the 90s and I can certainly see how it could be used to control the payouts and performance of slot machines.

I am less than 2 miles away from an Indian casino, it's definitely on the smaller side. I can definitely hear when I'm walking in and to the usual slot that I like to play way in a back corner how loud it is in there. If it's loud it means a lot of bonuses are hitting or people are letting a bigger win play out, and if it's quiet and I can actually hear the music playing on the speakers it usually means nothing is hitting. The casino is narrow, maybe 60 feet by 200 feet where the actual slots are, and there are also like 6 card tables together in part of that as well, so walking through in less than 5 minutes you can usually look at every single slot, and I'm always looking at people's screens to see what's going on on their machine, to see how many credits they have and what's paying. I don't know if California Indian casinos have different regulations or not though.

I don't believe that casinos cannot change the win payouts.

In Minnesota, the tribal casinos pay no taxes and the only laws they are bound to are tribal laws. You cant sue them in a state or US court, only tribal. They do not have to follow any payout percentages like the Vegas casinos do. They can set the payback percentage anywhere they like. A friend owns an old Double double bonus machine he bought in Vegas, not sure of the manufacturer. He opened it up and showed us a button with a small lcd screen, that had huge pixels like an old calculator, and he could select a payout mode. “Miser” was the stingey mode, very hard to win. There seems to be no reason a tribal casino couldn’t change that mode electronically.

Marc you always talk abt a topic that I cld say has crossed me in my years of playing. We used to say, "it was gd when the Casino was crowded bec now the machines were being fed and will hit" and when they weren't hitting with a small crowd the chances of hitting something was lower bec they were not being fed".
That was the mindset way back when!
Makes me laugh now to remember how we thought. That's different now!

Obviously you never met my sister. She missed her calling. She should have been a cooler. I swear to God, from the moment she entered the casino nobody was winning. No winning. No bells, whistles, dead air and nobody winning ANYTHING. When she got bored watching us lose, she left. As soon as the door closed behind her, bells rang, people hollered, back to normal. It was the most amazing thing I ever saw. Like something you'd expect in an episode of The Twilight Zone.

Our casino of choice has winners all the time! They have tv's up around the casino floors that make a big deal of people's wins as they happen! Every few minutes they go off with a noise and fireworks and the amounts won with the person's first name, last initial and the amount of their jackpot and says CONGRATULATIONS!! Its cool! My hubby won on our last trip and within just a minute of his hit... it showed up on the tv's !

Saturday night, 9pm at the casino, most machines are full. There are thousands of ppl playing, winning, and mostly losing. By 4am Sunday morning, there are roughly 90% fewer ppl still playing and still mostly losing. The volume of play has left the building, so it appears there is less winning. When in reality it was always thousands of ppl losing and only a small percentage winning.

I’m an exterior contractor and it’s much like what happens in our trade. We do windows, gutters, siding, soffit/fascia, screen rooms, hurricane protection, etc…. Most the time we are pretty evenly spread. Other times we don’t do gutter for months or screen rooms for months. Other times we are doing nothing but gutter or screen rooms. Same with cities might spend a month mostly in one city and not go back for a year. It’s odd and very noticeable at times and I know there’s no program or anything. It’s just life and how things go.
