The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World Book Review

Two great spiritual masters share their own hard-won wisdom about living with joy even in the face of adversity.

The occasion was a big birthday. And it inspired two close friends to get together in Dharamsala for a talk about something very important to them. The friends were His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The subject was joy. Both winners of the Nobel Prize, both great spiritual masters and moral leaders of our time, they are also known for being among the most infectiously happy people on the planet.

WHERE AM I? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Good summary. I liked the book and felt like I got to know the more personal aspects of the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu, especially their sense of humor.

What a great review! I had never thought of the concept of baseline happiness, but from my own experience, it feels right.

Whwn things are not going well for me, I don't think about the suffering of others, rather, I think about the truly good days in my own life. And that is what helps me through the hard times.

Very interesting thoughts, Brittany!....the baseline happiness theory seems to be just naturally adapt, unless it's something really it's something horrendous, we still adapt, but it takes a lot longer to become happy again, if we ever do....most people are just getting by and grateful to be topside, I was almost killed three times by the time I was 16, so I'm very grateful for every day! for sharing this joyful vid, my friend :))

I've been listening to the 'The Happiness Hypothesis', but seeing the rating this book you recommending here has in Amazon and all the positive reviews I am believing that probably this is one of the best books on the topic
