😂😂😂 This reminds me of my Grandma's old sayings. We were raised all around the world in the Airforce. I was 13 when I was introduced to the Southern ways. Grandma told me to go out yonder to the turtle hull and fetch her those taters. I looked all over that property for a Turtle hull and realized I had no clue what it was. Grandma came out and said, "Child, what's taking you so long? She walked over to the trunk of the car and popped the trunk lid. There, in all their glory, were the taters Grandma asked me to fetch. She called a Chimney, a Chimilee. She asked me to fetch her an in-velup out of the desk drawer. 😂 What she was referring to was what I called an Envelope. 😂😂😂

loved this Jared, took me back to my childhood with some of our superstitions growing up, I heard of the dirty water one and when Jason sister died we had a weird experience of some crows getting on our roof screaming the day before so I believe the hoot owl 🦉

I live in East Tennessee in the Great Smoky mountains.. my grandmother always said if a bird flies in the home, death is coming.
And to never wash clothes on the first or last day of a year.. it will wash someone in or out of your life.
If you're ever in the room when someone dies quickly cover any mirrors, it's thought that it could keep the soul from getting trapped.
Never carry out a body as a loved one who passed away in the home head first, for if they're faced to be looking inwards towards the home, they could get attached in death.. not able to cross over easily. (Make sure they're carried out feet first)
Never set your purse on the floor or you will always be broke.

Awesome superstitions and Old Wives tales. I have heard of the Wooley Worm and the leaves turning up. I have also heard if a bird hits a window and dies, someone close to you will also pass away. You know brother, I love all of your Appalachia videos. I like the fact it brings us into a time for some people we might have forgotten about. The way you tell these stories brings us all together living these times with you. Stay Safe and Keep Smiling.I Love you brother and send my love to the family. 🤗❤️

The leaves turning over showing their lighter side when it is suppose to rain, has actually been scientifically proven to be true,
Idk where I got my sources but I've read an article somewhere about it. Love these vids man

My Grandpa, when I was little, also told me about why the leaves turn upside down. I was very young when he passed, but he had a lot of neat stories. I wish I could remember more of them!!! Oh! I remember him telling me that if a bird flies right into your closed window, bad news is coming. I've since learned that it's called an "auspice"! A sign of things to come.

Hi. Mr. Jared. My folk from North Carolina. They said of a bird flies inside your house, there will be a death you hear about.

Greetings and Blessings Brother Jared and Kin Folks.
That opening picture looking off a bluff sure looks like Mt. Nebo that looks over the Arkansas River, here at the Foothills of the Ozarks of Arkansas.

Momma always cooked black eyed peas for New Year's Day. Dad yelled at me once for closing a pocketknife blade that somebody else had opened.

There certainly were some new ones in there. But some were similar to things I heard growing up. Drop a tea towel and you have company. We always had a big fancy dinner Sundays as it was the belief you would prosper during the week or be Blessed. The leaves and catepillers were the same. Wash your car it will rain. Owls good luck, Ravens bad. These are so interesting. Love you bunches. Keep Safe❤Keep Well ❤
