In this video I go through how Non chargeable persons (PAYE worker with less than €5k income outside of the normal job) in Ireland delcare dividend income with Revenue.

Depending on where where the company is based there are slightly different rules for taxation on dividends from Irish, UK, US, Canadian and other foreign dividends.

The guidance is on the revenue website is not great so I thought it was time someone made a tutorial.

In this I will go through an example of a US dividend from start to scratch.

Talking about withholding tax, encashment tax and doubel taxation treaties.

If you have any question on the video please drop a comment and I will try to address them.

Hi Walter,
How would you declare for example a dividend income from a European company (excluding Irish or UK) on Revenue and ensure the DTA?
Thank you for the very informative video!

Great video thank you so much for putting the time in to make this process much easier!
Just one question, I have dividends from some European companies such as Volkswagen, through Trading212, I don't see a section for this, would this just be UK dividends as Trading212 is based in the UK?

Very helpful video! Just a quick question - when must you declare dividends received? So for example for dividends received in 2020 must they be declared before a certain date in 2021?

Hi Walter,

thank you very much for your video. I am new in Ireland (from Barcelona). Do we have to take into consideration the natural year? I mean, to declare dividends, salary, incomes, etc. for example we need to consider them from 1rst of January 2022 to 31rst of December 2022? I suppose we need to declare them in the first quarter of 2023 then.

Thank you very much in advance.
David.

Hi,
I just to check my understanding. For 2021 dividend tax declaration in ireland investors have to declare each dividend payment as they come in . For example if a quaterly US dividend is paid to me, the us takes 15% and the irish revenue the balance. This would be done by four dividend declarations on my account (revenue). Could you confirm this thanks.

Hi walter. Happy New Year. not sure if you will read this but I bought some shares that paid dividends last year (2023) they paid me around 70 Eur in the whole year. I just watched this video and wanted to ask if I can declare this income now. i was not aware of this tax. I was going to declare this on my income tax return. Is that possible?

Hey Walter. Do you have to do this for each individual dividend received in the tax year.

Great video, I've a query if you wouldn't mind, I received a dividend via computershare withheld (15 %)
and Irish Encashment Tax withheld (25%) on the amount received in Ireland. I'm wondering do I submit this Under US dividend or the other one you detailed?

Thanks a million for the video. You're a gem !! How to we dividends that are outside of US, UK, Ireland and Canada though. I have Japanese and Chinese stocks and they are nowhere to be found on revenue. Do we click "Dividends & distributions" and if so, is there one single rate for other countries ?

Great video! What about interest income with Irish and foreign source (eg from deposit accounts or bonds)? Same rules and filing requirements as for dividends?

Great video. I have a question: How do we pay taxes on dividends received from middle east companies? Do they go in untaxed income or foreign salary? Thank you 😀

Nice video. Appreciate the effort. This and the Capital gains video are invaluable for a novice Irish investor. To be honest I have stayed away from and dividend stocks so far because I haven't been confident with how the tax would work out on them. When prsi etc etc are taken into account, even though it wouldn't be a huge amount, it would knock the bit of good out of it

Nice video lad. Im still a bit confused though. When you have that much done on the revenue site, have you got more things to fill out and taxes to pay on the dividends? I just have US ones

Thanks. Great video. I have subscribed to your channel! I have a Euro distributing ETF that pays out dividends. The fund is domiciled in Ireland. For tax, purposes, do i declare that as an Irish dividend? Or is it treated differently as it is an ETF?
