If Harmony is the red carpet for Melody to stroll on, Rhythm is the very spirit or essence of musical expression. In this episode I will discuss how you can enrich your musical vocabulary by studying more of this often (unfortunately) neglected musical topic. There are so many great composers who were fine drummers. Frank Zappa, Stewart Copeland, Chick Corea, Tony Williams and Jaco Pastorius, to name a few. Igor Stravinsky, Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Bela Bartok were musical giants who embraced complex rhythmic structures. Get into the groove and give the drummer some! It's time for some fascinatin' rhythm!
