Ralph Norton and his Varsity Ramblers: Hot Jazz

The Ramblers with Andy Schumm on cornet and bass sax played 2 great sets at Bix Fest in Racine Wisconsin on March 12, 2017. They were enjoyed equally by dancers and listeners.

Outstanding band! Norton sounds GREAT on the bass sax. Otto, Schumm, and Bartlett excellent work! Rhythm section light and tight! So nice to hear real, hot, 2-beat old style jazz for a change. Why isn't there more of this? Keep up the good work boys.

I suppose the "frontline" is standing - and not "sitting" (as they normally do the last years) because of the DANCERS (they should dance at the back-side of the hall or at the "side" of the stage - in my opinion) and apart from this bad service to the non-dancers (and they have the The Maestro on The BASS - SAX Mr. Ralph Norton cannot SIT in the "frontline" the place he deserves to sit. Maybe the organisation can think of this next year?
