Dan is 100% spot on here. Jordan's era was so much tougher to play in, which is why he's the undisputed goat.

Even in the 80s and 90s they would have yanked you if you put up two points in 35 minutes

Physicality adds another element to the game. The irony of Draymond is he taking advantage of an element that was normal in the 80s and 90s. Maxwell was just pointing out the fact that Draymond bullies in a non bully Era. The players today are not really built for the heat and Draymond knows it so he tries to use that in his favor. I think Draymond feels some type of way because he knows he is not doing that to Teams in the 80s/90s, The Bucks, Houston Rockets, Seattle Supersonics, the Trailblazers, the Knicks, Indiana. Think about the 4s and 5s on those teams.

Cedric Maxwell was twice the player that Draymond Green ever was.
The Celtics don't win in 1981 or 1984 without Max. He played offense AND defense at a high level.
Meanwhile - Draymond is averaging 6 points and shooting 30% in the Finals.

Why is Draymond...maybe the 5th most talented player on his team always the one running his fucking mouth?

Everyone played physical back then. There was not just enforcers, they all played physical basketball. Sorry Draymond is so defensive about how they play now.

I love Michael Jordan he was one of my favorite players but he kept saying that’s not basketball and they change the rules because Michael Jordan so don’t act like Michael Jordan got beat up his whole career

Idk I think it's strange that older players are criticizing younger players by comparing different generations. If anything, basketball has evolved tremendously – players are now more athletic, versatile, dynamic, etc. This is one of the dumbest debates right now in the NBA.

I mean... to play devil's advocate, if I'm having a tough day at work, or even a good day at work... the last thing I want to hear is how people in my profession "had it tougher". While the person saying that might have legit knowledge of it, the last thing the person in the position *now* is wants to hear, is how what he or she is feeling is essentially invalid. It's like: no, you're not gonna invalidate what I've accomplished, or my viewpoints. So when guys like Draymond or JJ push back publicly, I'm honestly not mad at it. It's like.... yeah, I'd be sick of hearing that shit too. And to reply is apparently "soft"? Nah. Whether I agree with guys like Draymond or JJ or not, I totally respect them pushing back a bit. Charles Barkley gets a pass, and is applauded for speaking *his* truth, but when other players do so, it's "soft"?
