Honestly i do ship them, not because of childhood friend trope. I think they're good because she understands why he does for living and understands that he's not mentally healed from his trauma of witnessing his sister being raped and killed by the goblins.

Even back in season 1 when the threat of the goblins were right outside their door, she knows the risk if goblin slayer hadn't gone to the guild for aid. Whether you call it foolish of her of staying, she stayed not only because its her home but its also HIS home. And I'm sure she doesn't want to lose him either even though she knows the goblins won't take pity on her.

While GS doesn't show romantic feelings towards any girl he's meet, but like i said in the end of season 1 the fact that he had to beg for help from the other guild members even though he doesn't ask for help before, it was important to enough to protect his home even cowgirl/farm girl (i really hope there's a name for her beside cowgirl) who is important to him.
