A ship encountering unforeseen problems is one thing, boarding a ship with passengers when the company knows they have mechanical faults is another.

I appreciate how you don't drag a five minute video out for twenty minutes like many do!

ABC Islands is the premier route of the Caribbean.
Changing that to Bahamas definitely deserves a 100% refund plus another free cruise.

You’re right when you say people don’t read their contracts thoroughly. However, you can not indemnify yourself from negligence. Carnival has known that propulsion was a problem with this ship. They had a duty to convey that to their guests prior to booking. This is a slam dunk.

I was on a Carnival cruise in 2017 where they were doing major construction on the waterslides on the main pool deck while at sea. So there were no waterslides, less space around the main pool, but most importantly a lot of construction noise. At first we were offered about $50 on-board credit, but after some media exposure, they gave us 25% refund and 50% future credit.

I was booked on the Carnival Vista for this Saturday September 7th my cruise was the first one to get canceled. At least I am getting a full refund as well as a 100% future Cruise credit

They should name a ship Carnival Revolt

It is apparent that Carnvial knows this is a continuous problem w/this particular ship. Yet, they continue to take bookings and literally pull a bait and switch and steer their unsuspecting cruisers to their money making private island. How many times must a 'one off' engine propulsion issue occur before it becomes company malpractice? I smell a class action lawsuit.

The difference between ABC islands and Bahamas is huge. They should give at least a 50% refund to everyone!

Carnival is known as the Walmart and Golden Corral on the sea.

Yes, the cruise contract says ports are not guaranteed BUT Carnival keeps selling these itineraries knowing full well that they’re REALLY going to the Bahamas. Big difference! You can’t wait until people board the ship then switch the places you’re sailing to and expect guests to be happy about it.

This is really bad press. They need to get a handle on this soon.

When the exact propulsion issue happens to the same ship a month later and they also had to divert to the Bahamas, that is no coincidence, this was intentional. For this second issue, there is no doubt in my mind Carnival staff knew the ship was not sailing their original itinerary on embarkation day. They knew they had engine trouble already. They should have just allowed their passengers to not board the ship to begin the cruise and give them the opportunity to make that decision on embarcation day. However, they wanted their money, so they they boarded all of them in hopes that most of them would stay. They were right, 2/3rds decided to stay and they got what they wanted.

I'm suppose to be the Sep 15th sailing on the Vista. Really hope they get things figured out and back in service by our sailing

This was just another reminder that I won't be doing any Carnival cruises anytime soon. I did one last year and that was enough for me 😂

I was on this cruise from 8/24 to 9/1. While there were propulsion issues, we visited every port on our original itinerary.Puerto Playa, San Juan, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas. I saw no drama.

This has gotten so comical, it does provide great entertainment.

Contracts are way more complicated than just saying Carnival has a clause saying they can take you wherever they want. If they entered the contract with prior knowledge it could invalidate the original contract and make them responsible for damages. This is one small example of the complexity of contract law so that’s why C has been so generous with compensation. Their capacity is large enough and enough people affected it could cross into class-action territory as well.

I used to be shocked by these types of videos, but now I can't be bothered to watch them. I would never cruise Carnival, period.
