So i am from Jamaica I remember watching my first worldcup back in 2002, my entire house was supporting Brazil but i started supporting that day because of this man, even though Germany lost 2-0 i developed a chemistry with Germany Team and i still support the German Team i even go as far AS to study the German language. Ich liebe Deutschland!

This man was my childhood's hero as I dreamed of someday being my country's (Peru) goalkeeper and being the one taking my team back to the world cup after 30+ years. This obviously never happened 😅 as I dropped any chance of professional football career when the minor league club I used to play for suddenly dissolved when I was 15 (I'm 27 now), but still... Kahn was my hero when I was a kid and I will always remember admiring him that much. For me, he will always be the best of them all. I remember being 7 and crying because Brazil won that world cup. Discussing with friends I always pointed he won both glove and golden ball during that world cup and also that his team with no Ballack was no match for that terrifying Brazil, and still he kept the goal save for the whole first half. Anyways... Thanks for making this tribute video about the Mighty Oliver Kahn 🤘⚽

When you give all your soul towards something and see it as a matter of doom or salvation, you unconsciously set yourself up for one of the biggest teachings of the universe: learning how to be vulnerable. Sometimes, that house you are so desperate to defend at any cost, is going to be invaded and, not only once; what about 3 times? At that point, while you still are one of the best housekeepers in the world, it feels like it's all for nothing, you feel no more reward from your sweat... But, you are in the position to learn at that point, that you weren't guarding a house poarch, you were guarding a peace of mind. In that guarding you lost your peace of mind. After that peace of mind got utterly violated, and not by anyone, but by your worst enemy in that match, Ronaldo, the biggest adversary you knew was most likely going to invade your home, you can't do anything but appreciate the newly acquired feature of the universe: acceptance and surrender, which brings you an infinite peace of mind. Good job Oliver, but now, your house defends itself.

He was born one day after Steffi Graf, another titan from Germany. Similar character and upbringing too. Solitary, workaholic and very strict father figure.

He would take newbie Bastian Schweinsteigers towel after showering in order to have a second one. Bastian never dared to address that to him. lol

1:55 in 1994 the Euro did not exist, it was introduced in 2002 as currency.

Can you imagine 3 million Oliver Kahns marching towards Moscow? That will give anyone nightmares.

There were no Euros in the nineties. The 2.5 millions might have been Deutsche Mark

Whenever I think about that 2002 world cup, I think of that easy grab that he let slip out of his hands. By far the biggest choke of his career. Yes Brasil scored a 2nd goal but... the mentality and emotions of being down 0-1 in the world cup would have never happened. The rest of the game after that bad goal Khan allowed in, Germany just wasn't the same. If that didn't happen I truly believe they would have beaten Brasil.
