I visit KLIA weekly for business travel around the APAC region. It’s a horrificly badly maintained modest airport at best. I just came back from Australia this morning: you touch down, you arrive at the satellite terminal (gates C1-C35) and nope… the trains to transfer you to the main terminal don’t work (for the next couple of years). You’re directed to the the diesel buses to bring you to the main terminal. Queue up, smell the diesel, get transferred with drivers who think they are driving lorries with cattle and then arrive at the main terminal: the escalator doesn’t work, so you have to walk up the escalator with your luggage. Then go to immigration and you’re being confronted that ‘the system’ to recognize your biometric finger prints doesn’t work, so no autogate. Queue up again. Then buy some last minute tax free items. Nope, shops closed. Get your luggage. Problems with the belts cause delays.

Welcome to Malayasia, welcome to KLIA. According the PM Anwar this ‘fabulous airport’ can easily compete with Singapore’s award winning and world reknowned Changi airport.

At least the PM has a sense of humour.

What an amazing airport! Great video for a first timer to get some idea about where to go. Just one question though - how do you get from KLIA T1 to the Golden Lounge at KLIA Satellite? Is it a walkable distance or is there some sort of shuttle?
