What do you think about the Canal Istanbul? Will it really be finished? 🤔

1:24 The Ottomans didn’t rename it as ‘Istanbul’; they called the city ‘Konstantiniyye, ’ which has the same meaning as Constantinople: ‘Constantine’s place.’ However, the city was renamed ‘Istanbul, ’ meaning ‘to the city, ’ after the foundation of the Republic of Türkiye.

12:14 how did you figure out there is only 25km from that point of sazlidere reservoir to the Sakarya River? It’s more like 125 km, not 25km.

Wishing Turkey all the best! anytime I see nations doing smart mega projects I get happy especially those who are trapped in the middle income sphere. Turkey has a lot of potential to break that marble ceiling and TRULY develop on Western Europe's level. It's just stuck at the moment and will need significant development projects to get it there. It's probably the nation that has the most potential to do it and finally enter the economic GDP per capita giants of Western Europe, Gulf States and East Asia (namely South Korea and Japan). If that happens it will trickle down and impact the whole Eastern European and Middle Eastern region! Here's to hoping this eventually happens!

One thing ‼ >>> Istanbul is a city on two continents, the western part is located in Europe and the eastern part in Asia. It is the second largest city in Europe after Moscow and it has a population of 16 million

Thanks for mentioning how the things went after this 7:52. My father was one of them who got jailed. It's been 8 years since.

What I don’t get is, why would the new canal not ALSO get polluted? If all the traffic moves to the canal, wouldn’t it get polluted as well?

I just want to thank you for pronouncing Montreaux correctly…like perfectly with the correct accent on the final syllable and swallowing the “R”. Good job…..almost no one pronounces French words correctly except the French.

Having an alternative route is desirable, but to think that, in and of itself, that will stop traffic through the Bosphorus, is disingenuous due to the treaty; It is the only passage available to warships and that's not changing anytime soon.

It seems like a good idea, but that raises a few questions:

Environmentalists have a problem with the new strait, but why is that not a problem with the Bosporus strait to begin with?
How will an expensive new strait not suffer the same problems of the Bosporus?

The best option seems to be to actually clean up and update the Bosporus to handle more traffic and keep it clean. The new project clearly will only have a fraction of the capacity of the existing canal just based on its width.

I feel like Erdogan is in a position similar to that of Mehmet II—facing local opposition and needing to make swift decisions to prove himself right. Let’s see how things turn out.

Can you talk about Silk city that is being built in Kuwait, specifically the 1001 meter tower, the Mubarak Al Kabeer.

why would people pay a lot more to pass through the canal if they can still do it cheaply through the straights because the treaty would prevent its closure anyway ?

Japanese Companies confirmed Erdogan's Canal Istanbul project, there will not be any side effects after completing the project and will be highly beneficial to Türkiye's economy, Well done Turkiye 👏🏻👏🏻❤
