I first heard Blaze FOLEY rendition, But Nelson*Haggard version sealed the deal, My Mom rest her soul would say that the fiddle solo, Sounded mournfully sad, , !!

When I hear this song I completely forget about the world and think about how this song applies to something that happened to my life at the same time I think about what Merle might have been thinking when he first recorded this song. Very touching song as are all of Merle's songs.
