Building 15-Foot-Tall Pianos

David Klavins is a piano maker who, for years, could not find pianos that made the sounds he imagined in his head. So he began building pianos to his own specifications in a workshop in Vác, Hungary, and they are truly unique creations. To wit: Klavins’ vertical concert grand stands over 15-feet tall, and he actually has to climb a ladder to play it, which he does, beautifully, just for us.

So much greatness compressed into 3-5 minute long videos. GBS always keeping it real.

Is it just me or does the small one kind of sound like a harp?

The small piano won a lot of hearts here, including mine! Celesta/Piano fusion feeling. Voiceover style won less hearts I guess, but thanks for sharing this artist with us!

The smallest piano almost sounds like a Harp... Beautiful

The softness of that first piano genuinely blew me away. I honestly was not expecting it to sound so beautiful and light, like if clouds blowing in the wind were a sound.

I really don’t think that voiceover suited the style and feel of the video at all

Interesting information, but the kids' show narration is a bit belittling.

At 3:17, "...to counter the evil on the planet with something very positive."
A very important and profound concept. We as individuals cannot stop much of the evil in the world, but we each have the power to counter evil with our positive actions.

This is the reason why guitarists have thousands of guitar pedals and new ones are being made every day- because they are looking for that perfect sound they have in their head. same with this guy- only he decided to build an instrument to capture that sound- respect.

What an amazing video! I have never heard about this amazing craftman until now, as a Latvian, this has been very refreshing. I feel the sound for the Grand piano is epic af and can't even imagine the sound it resonates in real life.
