Vocal Coach Reacts To Nickelback | Burn It To The Ground | Ken Tamplin

Nickelback tends to be a band that people either love or hate but I’ve never been quick to join on the hate train so I wanted to do my best to give them a fair reaction.

The band got their start in the early 90s as a cover band under the name Village Idiot and later changed it to Nickelback. Soon after lead singer Chad Kroeger asked his stepfather for $4000 so they could record their first demo.

In 2000 they released The State, their second full length album which produced 2 Top 10 rock hits and reached number 3 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers album.

Their third album fared even better peaking at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and selling 177,000 copies in the first week alone.

The band has gone on to become one of the most commercially successful Canadian bands of all time and has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide.

Today I’ll be reacting to a live performance of “Burn It To The Ground” at the Stock Car Crash Challenge.

I think if you’re willing to approach the performance with an open mind, you’ll be able to see why fans of Nickelback appreciate them.

I don’t get the Nickelback hate myself. I have been a fan for several years.

Seen Nickelback live 6 times - and each time the vocals are amazing. Chad's voice never falters, and he's definitely not lip syncing. How he manages to sing like that for 4 hours straight is beyond me!

If any catchy arena rock band from the 80s were new and popular today, they would get the same kind of hate that Nickelback gets. Many rock and metal fans nowadays seem to hate an anything that has clean vocals and is catchy. They throw all the usual crap around such as, "Radio rock", "generic", etc. They seem to believe that 'heavier' sounding music makes it better than more melodic stuff. Chad is an excellent singer and songwriter. One of the best in modern rock in my opinion. Oh yeah.. if Foo Fighters or Green Day came out with a Nickelback song without their fans knowing it's a Nickelback song, the fans would love it... It would also most likely be one of Foo Fighters and Green Day's biggest hits, because Chad is that good.

chad is a great singer/songwriter, i really like nickelback. His lyrics aren't the greatest sometimes, but that goes for alot of singers.

People it’s a crowd effect on top of the studio track lol they did the crowd effect to add a cool layer to go with the live video feed for the ‘music video’, hope that helps lol. I can see where it’d be confusing for peeps but lots of bands do it, Avenged Sevenfold It Means War music vid for example 😎

Well when you look at the crowds they draw you can see the hate hype doesn't hold much water . One thing for sure is Chad's vocal is unique and you know it's him before a new tune is announced on the radio . What's even funnier is the haters know the words to most Nickelback tunes haha.

I’ve seen them twice live and they’re fantastic!!!! There was no track it was just them live. The whole show was incredible.

Chad either lip synced like a professional or he's a spot on live vocalist. What a flawless act.

Okay so being Canadian, Nickelback is to Canada what ACDC is to Australia. I've seen them many times over the years, I can tell you one thing, when Chad speaks between songs the man is hilarious he engages the audience. Honestly you never leave a Nickelback concert and say oh that sucked, you leave and say that was a great concert :P

I met the band in Stockholm at the Spotify headquarters prior to their latest album release.. to make a long story short.. the band was super nice but Chad is just awesome ! Spent time with everyone and just had a blast !

Man, Chad has one of the greatest rock voices, i saw it live un Santiago Chile on 2013, and the sound was impressive. And ok, Nickelback sells a rock band image, n then you look on his songs and found themes that remember Shakira or Westlife (wtf), but i Must say, the really rock songs definitly rocks! Listen "for the River", "Coin for the ferryman", "this means war", some very Cool examples.
