As Alberta's intensive care units continue to fill up with COVID-19 patients, doctors are pleading with the province to impose a 'fire break' lockdown. Heather Yourex-West explains why Premier Jason Kenney is resisting that, as one former ICU patient explains his regret at not getting vaccinated.

With COVID-19 vaccine passports now required in much of Canada, some people are lashing out, threatening or harassing staff at businesses. As Jamie Mauracher reports, the rules are keeping away some customers.

46 UNOCCUPIED beds in ICUs in Alberta (13.3% of system capacity)
613 UNOCCUPIED regular hospital beds in Alberta (10.3% of system capacity)

These figures are according to the Alberta government's own data.

Germany has (per capita) 2.5 times as many ICU beds as Canada; South Korea 4 times - and both spend less money on health care than Canada! Canadian health care has been collapsing under its own weight for quite some time. Covid did not cause the collapse but only made it visible to everybody..
