Great review Anthony. The X5 for sure is the sweet spot. I still need to get used to different models of it though lol. Did you get to do any more driving? I really hope that you are enjoying your time there. We topped out at 96 here which was almost chilly lol 😁 Hope all is well and take care Anthony

This SUV is AWESOME, a fully loaded X5 40i M Sport is the BEST brand-new SUV under six-figures (much better than a crappy Mercedes GLE), that’s why my dad is ordering one next month (we’d get the 20 inch wheels though bc of better ride quality and the larger wheels have low-profile tires which go flat easily on bad roads)

My 2024 is a I can’t wait till next day to drive it.
I built it myself to get rid of things so don’t need (massage and other) still paying under 90k

I have this X5 (with red calipers and cognac interior) and it's fantastic

You’re right about it being great and also about needing to get tons of options to really make it what it should be. TBH, the build you were reviewing is still missing some very key options.

First, the multi-contour seats are a must. They add a lot of adjustability and support for your upper back, shoulders and neck. I wouldn’t get an X5 without this option. Also, your review model didn’t seem to have Climate Comfort package, so no ventilated seats and no four zone climate control. It also has Sensafin, which is ok for pleather, but I got Merino and am glad I did. Also got exec package which really makes the console look way better and the soft close doors are nice.

To get an X5 xDrive 40i to what it really should be, you’re really looking at an MSRP of over $85K. Luckily, discounts can be had.

I’ve had my 2024 LCI for a year now and it’s still awesome, but this is not a car you should expect to get for $70K and have it be complete.

I haven't had a vinyl interior since my 1972 Dodge Demon and I vowed never again. To think that they are putting vinyl plastic on the seats is unthinkable.

What’s the difference between 40i and the 50i

I like your honesty on how you have to add on the features to make it what it should already be. I ordered mine and that is what almost turned me off. There are so many vehicles with certain add on for the BMW that are standard.

I've driven an Acura RDX, a Mercedes Benz GLC 350h, a Lexus RX350h, an Audi Q5 hybrid and a Mazda CX50. I'm also considering an Acura MDX and this BMW X5 xDrive 40i.

I'm 60, 6'3", family grown, make enough money, and drive 10-12, 000 miles per year. Having driven lots of these cars, which one would you recommend? I read stuff about the 4 cylinder hybrids and whether they are reliable, that's the reason I am considering the 6 cylinder options. I would be interested in your view. Thanks, KB

In your opinion, Which car is superior or like better: the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E 200 Sedan or the 2025 BMW X5 xDrive40i xLine?

I like the way the x5 looks on the exterior and the drive. But the interior of Mercedes is killing it. Those nipple air conditioner vents are terrible. I chose the GLE with the AMG package. Missed the drive of x5 but I prioritize lux. Glides over bumps in the road and feels better to me over inside.

Recently test drove 2025 X5 and 530 back to back. Dealer had no 540's. I know they are two different vehicles, but I am torn between the two as my next vehicle. I am tall like you are so seat comfort is a big deal. Did you notice any difference between the X5 and 540 you tested as to seat comfort? I thought the 530 I drove (which had the artificial leather and I plan to get leather) seemed more comfortable. On the other hand the X5 was more pleasing to my eye inside and out.

Would you choose this trim over an x3 m40i?

The 2025 Acura MDX Type S with similar options is 77K, and the 2025 Genesis GV80 is 80K. Those price points makes the BMW the Best Buy because the Acura Drive Train is Average “ At Best “. Additionally, the Genesis isn’t able to match the performance of the BMW. Lastly, the Mercedes GLE is overpriced and a bit dated.

I have this vehicle but am so disappointed that the many so-called safety and alert features simply don’t work or not function as they are supposed to be. The other luxury competition models are all much better with their such features.

This or the x3 M40i. It would be a daily commuter.

My 2024 was a very special order . I was able to add massage seats and 4 zone climate control and I am not sure if ventilated seats was added or was standard . Cost a lot
