Unfortunately green anoles do not watch over their eggs but it's cool that five lined skinks do

Fortunate find. It took 62 years for me to find my first clutch of skink eggs, amazing how large they are in proportion to the body of the mother.

U gotta try this, catch a male and female and breed them and they will probably do the same in captivity.

If the female has an in infertile egg she will actually eat it. And the good eggs she'll watch over. Luckily she can tell easily if the eggs are fertile or not. I usually cannot tell for a good 2 or 3 days. Even though you can candle the egg it's kind of hard to see anything in there. Sometimes you can see little veins but most likely will probably see the little embryo and probably not see the veins

Nice! The only eggs I ever see are frog eggs, and occasionally I'll see a box turtle making a nest.

Question, did you keep watching them after this? I found some today in our back yard. There about 10-12 eggs and the mother is still with them. When I moved the thing thay was covering them, she layed on top of the eggs as if protecting them. From everything ive read, that os unusual for skinks but thwn I found this video so I'm not sure how. It's definitely an amazing find. They live on our front porch and in our flower beds. They have plenty of protection and can hunt for food easily.

The female will probably watch over her eggs even in captivity

Found you through Alex's Channel man, and I am so glad! I'm up in the midwest, and I actually saw my first wild skink maybe two weeks ago. Was dorkishly excited! Really want to hunt for some nesting ones, but I'd also feel bad disturbing them. Probably not the best idea, lol. Anyway, awesome video!
