Filmmaker Trailer: Georges Méliès

Hundreds of films, and as much Louis Le Prince and the Lumières are the fathers of technological cinema, he is the father of the creative one.

Introductions, are rather trailers for filmmakers you might not know. Avoiding spoilers and just conveying a bit of their film style, popularity and personality. A glimpse, a suggestion. Nothing less, nothing more.

Georges Méliès. Director, writer, actor, producer. Magician. In this film, I used a clip of Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" (2011), a film set in 1920s Paris. I recommend it dearly. This video isn't edited a lot, as it somehow felt wrong for Méliès, so it's merely a picked out chronology.

Ratings of the films are determined by the average of IMDb, and letterboxd and mubi. The card only shows 40 of his films; all films rated above 6.5 as well as all films with a length from 10 minutes; and his first one. He made about 500 films though, of which circa 200 survived.
