I don't think that the meaning of the video is about abusive relationship! It's about helping your loved ones and healing yourself! I know it's a long comment but the meaning behind these metaphors is so deep and beautiful! So you see he's yelling at her and she's so impassive (like the lyrics saying "the will to fight can just slowly die"). He's not trying to hit her but instead he's shaking her in a way to bring her back to her senses, to wake her up. Then he is forcing her to see outside the window, to see the light which could be a metaphor for the "truth" (like the lyrics "how could you survive when the dimmest light never touched your eyes"). He is helping her to survive, to face her problems and stop being impassive. Then he disappears, after he did his part he's leaving her to figure it out alone. As she walks by the mirror you see the reflection is an elephant. It's HER reflection. You know the expression "the elephant in the room" when there is an obvious problem but it's being ignored. Well here SHE IS the elephant in the room. This is why the man wanted to help her cause she didn’t want to see it herself! So when she finally realizes she steps out of the house although she can still see the elephant inside. I think that's a metaphor that no matter how bad we want to avoid our problems they'll always be there. Then suddenly people are passing by her aggressively being rude. My guess is that everyone has their own "elephant" (therefore the frozen elephants) and no one is gonna care and stop for you. At the end of the day we are alone and we are the only ones who can save ourselves. So you see her running, she's finally came to her senses and she's taking action. She begins to climb upwards, overcoming her fears and problems. We see some scenes of different people and situations, everyone has their own life and problems to face. She keeps climbing, she looks back, she doesn't want what she had before so she continues (lyrics "we will know and never more go back to this"). Then at the top he is there, probably waiting for her. She sits besides him as he looks so calm watching the sunset / light. She had to go through all this to find the light and see what he is seeing (obviously he got through the same that’s why he wanted to help her find her way to the top with him and be together). So the last scene with the sunset could be a metaphor for the truth once you overcome your fears and you find yourself, your higher self. Then you HEAL therefore the title of the song and the lyrics "you gotta give something something, you gotta give love". If you read until the end I appreciate you and have a nice day! 😁

I see here a metaphor of the pathological grief caused by an abusive relationship. The cold you feel when it's gone. The weight represented by elephants... the charge you don't want to let go. The anxiety that chokes you when you think that you have to continue with your life...and you remember everything. When someone makes you much damage so you stop wanting to know what happens around you. You only try desperately to make everything back, even if it will hurt you. Everything it's here, so deeply...

I was listening to this song when we were told that my grandpa had just passed away. He had been suffering for a few days. It was a weird moment. This song makes me feel sad, because it reminds me of that moment, but at the same time, whenever I dare to listen to it, it helps me channel that sadness and let it out, which helps me heal...
