THE DRUNK PILOT - Kyle Franklin

Experienced stunt pilot Kyle Franklin pretends he is a drunk spectator who was promised a ride in an airplane and when not given it he steals a plane and flies it crazily like an inebriated novice. Although his plane is an over-powered Piper Super Cub and capable of the bizarre maneuvers Kyle puts it through he still pushes his luck to the limit, and one small mistake could end in disaster. It's quite a show.

Kyle, You are quite the airman Sir. I remember seeing you father Jimmy in Janesville Wi. seems like quite a while back, (I know I was a lot younger, then!) Sitting all proud in his jet powered WACO, I fell in love again just like the first time, The roar of that radial and the thunder from the turbine!!!! He would goose it up and make her sit flat level without rolling an in, But by golly, when he put the throttles to em both it was a rush, and that little plane looked like it lifted of the ground in less than 50 ft, may have been less. And was that you who was the wing walker "Mecury" Wow, that was the bravest thing I ever saw, You had a lot of trust in your dad, and thats a good thing. Im sure your a younger copy of The Man! "Masters of Disaster was the name of the show! even had that fire spitting turbine truck 'FlameThrower" I believe. and at the end after the feild was all smoked up from the low level dogfighs the truck camd rolling through the smoke and billowing flames backlighting the event with a wonderful but eerie taste of how involved things get on the feild. God love ya and the whole family Kyle, A big fan.

I saw Art Scholl do a similar routine about 45 years ago, in his J3. Then about 5 years later at an airshow where he brought only his Super Chipmunk, he BORROWED the local flying clubs Super Cub and did the routine! That answered any questions about the plane being specially set up.

There was one my dad said that was done at Bloomer WI That was the "Old Lady Pilot" (Pilot dressed like old lady going for a ride) that started, with the plane was idling...and soon it picked up a couple hundred RPM...and soon the plane was flying itself... He said he made a wing tip on the ground turn right in front of a hangar that made many experienced pilots cringe....BUT it was his home airport...and he had "Obviously" practiced a lot...
