Excellent idea - and you're right EVERYTHING tastes better when you're camping...

Tried it this morning... worked pretty awesome! I must admit, I do prefer pan-cooking, but this made for a fun change. Threw mushies, bacon, spring onion and cherry tomatoes in mine. I did two, the second one was better.. I didn't cook it so long and then just let it sit for about 10 minutes under a tea towel to let it finish cooking. Perfect. :)

Fantastic. It's a foolproof method - and even my 23 year old son can stretch himself to do this...

What an ingenious way to cook eggs. Trying that for breakfast tomorrow! :)

Ahhh - thanks Dave, I loved your version on the wood stove too.

What a wonderful, simple idea, thanks so much. The sound is too low and it's very difficult to hear you.

Hey there, thanks for watching the video. Yes, the omelette is boiled in the bag, the spoon is just to keep it still so that it keeps its shape. If you just place the bag in a simmering pot, it will not come out in the nice rectangular shape.

Exactly how I have described it to my loved ones - and the drugs designed to keep my airways open, also worked to keep my eyes open - I didn't sleep for a week. And now, 6 months later - I'm told I have a seratonin deficiency as a result of the drug....it never ends...lol. But - thank God it's over; it really made me appreciate life, and how very fragile it is. So while I live and cook - I'll keep subjecting you to my videos...hahah.

Thanks Jim, I'll have to raise the volume now that my pneumonia and other respiratory horribles are over....sorry, this video was made last year when I wasn't feeling the best....make sure you keep watching my videos now...I'll be watching YOU...lol.

Hi there, the bag is supposed to be half-submerged in the water. Suspending it from a wooden spoon simply ensures that the omelette keeps its shape - if you just allow it to float in the water, there's no guarantee that it will slide out in an attractive shape..

Absolutely - it's the bag and the boiling that are the difference, but fillings? - anything your heart desires..

I did that before a camping trip. I just cooked the bacon, ham etc. Loaded all the veggies I wanted with the eggs. While cooking in boiling water I opened the bag to vent the steam and cooked til done or firm. Anyone know why food taste better while your camping? Try it; you'll like it!

Hmmm. I don't see why not hun - except you might need a slightly bigger pot, and a garbage bag to replace the sandwich bag. It might be necessary to cut him in half first so that he fits in the bag. Also because we know that husbands can be quite dense at times, a longer cooking time may be required.

Sure is - of course, like any omelette, you can put any fillings you like inside - it's just fuss-free...

Hi there, well - to be honest I haven't tried it, but I don't think I'd like to. The heating technique is a little different and I reckon it would probably melt the bag - and then release all kinds of nasty chemicals etc into the actual omelette. I may be wrong, and you're welcome to try it and tell me how it turned out....

I'm sorry about the sound (again)...I'm still putting up some older recipes that I recorded last year (unfortunately, I was battling pneumonia and laryngitis etc at the time)...

That's the bit I like most too - the worst part of cooking HAS to be the washing up later...
