I BOUGHT A FLOOD DAMAGED AUDI Q7 ( WORST MISTAKE!!!)

SO WE PURCHASED THIS AUDI Q7 A WHILE AGO AND THE DAMAGE TO THIS CAR IS MORE THAN WE HAD EXPECTED. PUTTING ANY MONEY IN TO REPAIRING THIS WONT BE WORTH THE EFFORT AS WE OVER PAID FOR THE CAR AND ITS DEFINITELY NOT GOING TO MAKE US ANY MONEY. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO, MOST LIKELY WILL BE BREAKING THE CAR FOR PARTS.

A huge amount of the part can be salvaged. The seats, provided they’re not ripped can be cleaned and treated with anti-mould product. Same with carpets door trims etc. If the wheels are genuine get them refurbed. They’ll sell for strong money all day long. If it was me I’d find another car to use the shell, electrical loom dash etc and transfer all the good stuff off your flood damaged one. If the engine is good you could look for a car with a wrecked motor but otherwise largely ok. If it was me I’d spend a month looking for a donor car and if no joy strip everything i could for sale. Test stuff like door speakers to see if they work etc etc. Be brave!!

NO WAY THIS IS MY OLD
I done the conversion on this while i worked at a bmw main dealer body shop back in 2012.
It started out life as a 2006 q7 s line in megalo dark blue which I bought in 2010 for 21k.
In 2012 I wanted to order a new sprint blue facelift ( the colour it is now ) one from liverpool Audi but it would have a taken 6 to 12 months to come so my old manager said why don't we just make one ourselves save giving all that money for a new one.
I brought the car into our body shop and stripped it all down for the colour change and done any repairs....I bought the bumpers, grill, rear lights and tailgate new.
I got the wheels, headlights and the interior from a breakers yard in Manchester and that's where those door trims came were scratched so we painted them gloss black at the bottom. ( They are just the covers by the way )
Everything was done down to the fine num plates from dealer and tax disc holder etc.
Then once painted I built it all up then had the task on getting all the lights to work as the car originally had halogen headlights and the facelift had xenon with led daytime running lights that dropped down to sides and the change to led rear.
I didn't have access to vag com or odis so I drove it to Essex where a company coded it all in properly and used resistors in the rear lights and the car was done. ( It was on there website for a while showing what they could do )
I kept it for another 2 yrs and sold it for 27k.
Shame to see it like this now but crazy the way I just stumbled across it myself on have been nice to see it but probably gone now for parts?

Provided it isn't salt water damage then a lot of the electrics may be OK, I'd be tempted to strip it out and inspect then test it before making a decision to break it.

Looks very nice, shame its a flood damage which is quite intense, i would personally strip the car and sell parts, unless you can get hold of a damaged one,
The expensive part is the engine which you would have recovered some money back, on a second note sell as it is if possible 🤔,
My opinion only, would have loved to see this car back on the road as i love watching your videos

I think you should strip the whole inside out, get a wet vat also and give eveything a massive detail. Then I would remove all the interior loom and dash, clean and replace fuses! You can easy do it! Start with the inside first, don’t worry about outside. Dry out headlights and clean engine bay! Give engine a good flush out and replace all fluids and try start her up 👍🏻

Break - Rad Pack/ Front End / Rear End (tailgate bumper lights) / Doors / Panels / body kit - I would have said dash/airbags but you can't guarantee they haven't been affected by the water. I think its as case of cut your losses and get as much back as poss.

Get a cheap dehumidifier and run it inside the car, with the headlights inside, for about a week. Then lots of cleaning. Worth a try.

I’d say you should part it out because it would be difficult to fix

I think that you already have the best idea of buying two more cars, one with front end damage and one with rear and side damage and then parting this car out to them. Should turn an negative into a paying proposition.

Few nice bits there boys, best to break it and sell the parts i think. Maybe do a video on refurbing the alloys for sale if you can do that yourself.

Part it out, i'm pretty sure you can salvage the body parts and recoup some of what you spent on it, even if you clean the wheels you can still get a buyer for those but i would just part it out.

Flood cars should be breaker not salvage. Mold spoors can come back and cause health issues, and the all the electrical problems that can occur ages down the line (even if they seem tot work Ok now). You don't want to be driving at speed anywhere and the electrics start sparking and either cause accident or cause fire.. Once all those fixing start to rust and electrical shorts - trouble... trouble... trouble.... Water/Flood cars IMO are unsafe.

There’s plenty on the car that can be salvaged guys. Would be an interesting fix really if anything the body looks alright. What would help is maybe as a side project:
1. Get the engine out, all electrical cabling out - get a reconditioned engine
2. All seats out obviously - no point salvaging those - remove the whole interior, reducing it to a shell
3. Body still good, colour not my choice but otherwise wrap it in a new one if you prefer
4. Recondition the alloys
5. Salvage all facelift parts in good condition for re-use
6. The most important thing is this - no rush, take your time with it! - and give us updates on how the car’s coming along
7. Give it a go and use it as your run around SUV.

If you get this right with getting all mouldy parts out, all filthy carpeting out, making this like new again, you guys will have just about the greatest rush-in from new subscribers on your channel.

Best bet, clean it up, make it look reasonable even thought its flood damaged and sell it on, you might not get the 4.5k but will get more than the 2k bid from Copart.Breaking it you might get your money back, but its all about demand and a waiting game..
