GR Series Update Explained

GR1 — built to thrive in Baghdad and NYC — has proven itself the world over including at thousands of GORUCK Events as the greatest rucksack ever built. That’s why any change, any modification of any kind is a huge deal to us, requiring extensive testing and a strong why. In this case, four years of testing a new fabric (210D CORDURA® ) for the back panel.

We have used this fabric on the Rucker’s back panel since 2020, we see no failure through our Scars Lifetime Guarantee Department — but we see a lot of upside. It’s more versatile to wear with travel shirts like Merino Wool or tank-tops. Hell, you can even wear it shirtless if that’s your thing. After all of this data and usage of 210D on the back panel and under the straps, we have now updated GR1 — our flagship rucksack, Built in the USA — and this is our first significant update to GR1. You’re going to like it better because it’s even more versatile now, no matter how you plan to use it. And we hope you use it hard, and all over the world.

Give us the option for the 1000d backing and straps. That’s what makes it bombproof. If you want it for the office get something else.

Clearly something changed with the woodland heritage given all the complaints about ripped seams, blown straps, and mis-stitched zippers. Sure hope that was fixed.

I understand the change. My opinion won’t matter but I prefer the all 1000d pack. It’s the original it’s your legacy. At least produce both or offer the option if you make them in batches. Or use x-pac on the back and under shoulder straps. 1000d is just a superior material, even to x-pac. I feel so lucky to have two all 1000d packs. One over 13 years old. It’s my most prized pack because of all the history and indestructibility. I know scars covers the 210d but still, I’d rather not even deal w it.

If its not broke don't fix it. So basically you made the change because of another community..Crossfit. I am now reduced trying to find rucks on the used market that are still 100% 1000D.

the new straps with 210D CORDURA Suck! throw the bag over one shoulder and it immediately slip off onto the ground. the old straps were great, i hate the change.
