Manic historic touring car restart at Goodwood

After a safety car period the St Mary's Trophy part 2 gets going again at the Goodwood Revival in 2017 with some manic action all through the grid. There's amazing battles between Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Austin A40, Jaguar Mk1s and Austin Westminsters with absolutely no quarter given. my late grandfather had a austin A40 farina mk2, unfortunately he sold it before i got my drivers license, to this day i can't find on left hand drive for sale in portugal with the same specs :(

Always makes me smile watching cars like the A40, one of the slowest cars on British roads at the time, bang round at 100mph..

Mark 1 Jaguars used to dominate saloon car racing in the late 1950's and early 1960's, until the Ford Mustang came along. So, what's happening here?
Is it the drivers, or the mechanical preparation of the Austin and Alfa that give them an advantage?
