Yes take the cotton out, the cotton is really for shipping purposes only.

My questions, Royal Queen, are these.
Does the cotton and pills consist of expiration dates?
If they do, then without purchase until expiration they would be discarded, which seems that the cotton either plays a buffer role, to maintain freshness or both.

This would mean serving beneficial purposes.
If none of those are the reason, then why was the cotton present in the first place?
To discard of the cotton once the bottle is open, suggest to me that it wasn't necessary in the first place.

Bear in mind that once the item is purchased, it will not be expected to be stationed on a shelf as was in the store but would be transiting and shuffled several times during each twenty-four hours.

Why does it remain there until being bought, then being advised to discard of ??

My final question is, what is the main purpose for its presence??

Good info. but why do manufacturers put the cotton in if it's bad for the pills?

I always take it out but if there is a desiccant pack in there which is often the case for supplements then I leave that in
