Ever seen Kapok Cotton from the tree? 🧶

Kapok cotton is not the same as the cotton you find at homes, the two come different plants. While cotton we use is white and absorbent, Kapok cotton has a cream colour, silky texture and is non-absorbent. Kapok is used to fill pillows, mattresses and other bedding since it doesn’t absorb oil, water etc well. A lot of the bedding filling these days are made of synthetic fibers, next time you go shopping, see if you can find one with natural fibers instead. You can find them on Amazon. Aka Kana mattress/pillow.

Two ways of making lamps :

1️⃣ Take some cotton and roll in your palm to make thin wicks. Dip it in an oil lamp and soak the end which will be lit on oil and light it.

2️⃣ Take some Kapok cotton, compress it, plop it on the Kapok husk or other inflammable surface, soak in oil and light it

These seeds are not supposed to be sown near any buildings as the roots gets so strong and can damage the buildings once they are big trees. Sri Krishna while constructing Dwaraka instructs few trees to be planted on the outskirts of the city. This is one of them
