2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited Hybrid tested!
Is the new hybrid Tucson better than the Rav4 hybrid?
The new Tucson offers both a Smartstream™ 2.5-liter, direct-injected and multi-port-injected gasoline engine as well as 1.6-liter, direct-injected, turbocharged hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The new Smartstream 2.5-liter engine, with high-efficiency combustion, cooled EGR and an optimized ITMS cooling system, boasts a generous 187 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 178 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm, with a targeted combined fuel economy of 28 mpg with front-wheel drive. This 2.5-liter engine couples to an 8-speed automatic transmission for excellent efficiency and acceleration.

Have had this exact model for 8 months and couldn’t be happier! By the way, if you have a left thumb, you’ll find it will easily control the volume and station changes on the steering wheel. No need to grope around for knobs.I’ve driven the competition, and this is much quieter and smooth than the others.

Last week I traded in my ‘20 WRX Limited for a ‘22 RAV4 Hybrid XLE premium with $3600 in packages. Same price as this Tucson. Paid MSRP and got $1500 more than I paid for the WRX trade in. 22 mpg on premium in Illinois was a dealbreaker for the Subie.

You have a very unique and original reviewing style. You notice and observe many things that a lot of other reviewers don't mention...

This is to Honda and Mazda: do not take the praise Hyundai has been getting as a reason to switch to capacitive.

I'm still not sold on the gimmicky headlamps. Don't see the big Hyundai/Kia savings anymore. Put next to Toyota, Honda, or Mazda, they're not showing reliability in past powertrains. I think I'd wait and see before jumping in. Remember, that Hyundai/Kia/Genesis $1.3 Billion engine fire settlement was less than a year ago.

Tuscon is a fantastic vehicle. Tuscon is better than crv but cx50 cx5 and rav4 is better

The limited trim in my opinion is somewhat worth the $6k I think. At least for my needs, it gives you the Bose premium audio, ventilated seats (I live in Arizona, so it’s a huge plus for me), leather seats (higher quality and easier to clean), heated rear seats, voice commands (if you don’t want to touch those capacitive buttons). There is also the extra stuff like blind view monitor with cameras, surround view monitor, parking assistance with fob, rear heated seats, memory settings for seat adjustments, bigger screen. The only downside is the wired CarPlay/Android Auto which in my experience is better than the wireless connection. The wireless connection was very buggy in my Elantra SEL and didn’t connect properly unless I reset the whole system.

At $40k, it's overpriced for the Limited trim. The SEL hybrid trim is a much better value at $33k. Good quality review, Sir!!

I don't know about having a turbo on a hybrid. Like sure, sporty but nobody who's driving a series hybrid like this is looking for huge performance and the hybrid system actually helps bridge the power band gap of naturally aspirated engines.

Though, something that has *always* been super attractive about Hyundai's hybrids are it's use of conventional 6 speed transmissions. Still don't agree with the turbo on a hybrid though. It doesn't make any sense lol. Unless it's like trying to compete with the RAV4 prime in a roundabout way.

Fix-a-Flat kit? Yeah, try repairing a tire with that kit on some dark lonely road in the middle of the night in the rain😂

Kirk. You make some fine videos. I really liked the PIP so we can see you speaking, which makes your review memorable and engaging and separates you from the myriad of others trying to accomplish similar reviews. I drove the 2023 model and the car handled very well. The cabin noise while driving was an issue for me, and the interior styling seemed too formal. From the street the looks are quite good, but once you sit inside I felt like the interior appearance was out of character with the exterior giving me the feeling that I sat inside the wrong car. Keep in mind I am a 55+ male and this auto wasn't designed with me in mind although I am in the market for this type of SUV. The sticker price was in line with others and acceptable but the 4500 dollar market adjustment above the sticker was preposterous and unacceptable. I've bought over a dozen cars in my lifetime and the car buying experience now is without a doubt the most absurd and alienating process I have ever seen, with no other period in time even coming close in the sheer ridiculousness, due to these market adjustments and the dealer arrogance that there is someone behind me that will pay it. I have no problem walking away from a bad deal. I appreciate your expertise and professionalism

Great and Informative Video! I would ask you why you said that the Back of the Fronts seats being a hard panel is bad? You didn't explain Why you thought is wasn't good. Thanks!

Why have the American customers huge problems with the Volume knop ? I just use very easy all the the time the volume knop on the steering wheel, I can do it without having to take my hand off the steering wheel. I´m not understand that ?
