Russia is finalising preparations for its most important secular holiday: Victory Day However, concerns over domestic security after a series of recent drone strikes and sabotage operations have seen cities and regions cancel celebrations.

Shame on the people who politicise this sacred event and don't see it as what it was. The sacrifice and deaths of tens of millions mostly innocent men, women and children and the millions that died, doesn't matter what their race, religion or ethnicity joined hand-in-hand to drive the Nazis back to Berlin. Remember, not only millions of Russians died but also a similar number of Belarusians, Ukrainians and people from all around the former Soviet Union.

Victory Day is a holiday that commemorates the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in 1945. It was first inaugurated in the 16 republics of the Soviet Union.
The Soviet Union lost around 27 million people during the war.
The Soviet Union suffered the highest number of fatalities of any single nation, with 27 million deaths.
Sadly the US and the West refused to acknowledged the Soviet Union contribution and sacrifice in helping to end World War II against Germany.
